City pigeons are very easy to catch too, since they are so conditioned to being around humans, you can get very close to them before they’ll try to flee. And they can only take off straight forwards, so you just walk up behind them and throw a net/blanket in front of them and they’ll fly right into it.

A city pigeon also thinks it’s safe when it gets to a height of about 10 feet. I remember reading long ago about a basketball player (Connie Hawkins?) who would amuse himself by leaping to catch pigeons by hand. Didn’t kill them, as far as I know, but there were some very surprised pigeons.
