4 miles out from the end of the runway, looks cloudy but I’m thinking altitude should have been well above 100ft.

Have these people been rescued from the plane yet? I heard that you can be electrocuted just getting into close proximity to those kind of power lines. Don’t have to necessarily touch them.

Saw another report that they were waiting on the power company to shut down the power before they attempt a rescue

I don’t know how these guys got their Mooney onto this tower. I hope they get it to stay there long enough to be rescued. Good luck to both the occupants and the first responders. Pray for the safety of all. Loss of electric service is a mild inconvenience usually.

It’s amazing the 2 onboard survived. Did the aircraft act as a Faraday cage to protect them?

It rarely ends well for balloonists that drift into those things. I hope they can rescue the passengers.

A creepy thing I once saw with one of these high voltage power line towers. I was driving to work, and I looked over and saw the tower. There was a helicopter hovering next to it and a person (body)was swinging from one of the outer arms of the tower. It looked like the helicopter crew was trying to get him down. Don’t know what happened, but probably something very bad happened to a workman up there. It looked like he was wearing some kind of bulky suit. How terrible.

Yes airplanes and cars tend to act as a faraday cage.

Faraday Cage theory is really shot to pieces from any windows in the cage.
