4 miles out from the end of the runway, looks cloudy but I’m thinking altitude should have been well above 100ft.

I don’t know how these guys got their Mooney onto this tower. I hope they get it to stay there long enough to be rescued. Good luck to both the occupants and the first responders. Pray for the safety of all. Loss of electric service is a mild inconvenience usually.

[4 miles out from the end of the runway]

What is it called? Minimum Descent Altitude?

If one is on the glide slope I mean

I’m some hour away and today was terrible fog with occasional light rain.

I suspect the pilot was scud running, flying low enough to see the ground but not the transmission tower, which blended into the fog.

About 40 years ago a Cessna 210 was scud runnin over I-74 east of Peoria. It hit high tension lines with the vertical stabilizer, which probably buckled the elevator mechanism, sending it down and right into the back of a semi trailer full of tires. The truck driver amazingly was unhurt, pulled off onto the shoulder, and managed to unhook the trailer and pull his truck away from the inferno. The pilot and a friend perished.
