I had a thick leather jacket (before I got the full body protective gear), and I remember at around 90mph and above, grasshoppers felt like bricks 😣. Don't want to imagine what they would have felt like without the heavy leather on..

I wore an Aerostitch Roadcrafter suit. Pricey but fantastic. My co-workers called me “Right Stuff” because I looked like an astronaut walking across the parking lot with my helmet under my arm.

I eventually quit riding when I felt like the bike was getting ahead of me (Ducati Monster). Bought a Honda S2000, about the same amount of fun but a lot more comfy.

I had hornet hit, and sting me several on the left eye while commuting by bicycle in Hong Hong while on a dedicated bicycle road. Different vehicle but similar issue. I looked like I had lost a fight.

Life is not being fair to the owner of the Lexus SUV. Will the insurance company find a loophole to avoid reimbursing him or her for the cost of the destroyed vehicle?

I’m glad you enjoyed your years with motorcycles and had a safe time. My father had a motorcycle he almost never used and a few times he let me ride it on a rural road. It was quite an experience to learn the rudiments of it but I quickly realized that riding it on streets would be something I probably could not do well. So in my case it was a few pleasant outings in a safe environment and I checked it off my list. It did help me be a safer driver just briefly seeing things from a motorcycle seat and knowing it isn’t easy.

Yes, they are very dangerous on the street. I got tired of having to concentrate all the time, always on the look out, always on the defense. Off road is probably the best way to go...for just fun. Thank You.

PCH is so fricking dangerous. People drive crazy at all hours of the day/night, though it is a beautiful drive early Sunday mornings. Getting out of Gladstones4Fish was often quite scary.

Wow...hope you weren’t seriously hurt. No surprise on the cell phone. When riding I noticed half the people I passed were looking at their phones. thanks.

When I was a kid, I rode with my father one time on his 700 cc engine motorcycle. We were only a 1/4 mile away from the house and he either tried to do a wheelie or, as he instead claimed, “hit a rock,” and I fell off. He fell off, too, but ripped his knee cap somewhat badly.

I did eventually get very proficient as a teen on a motorbike, but always preferred cars, due to safety.

Imagine putting either 3-point seatbelts or airbags on a cycle!

I always give motorbike riders more space in front of me. I surely don’t want to hit one of you guys for ANY reason.

One of my wife’s cousins was killed when he wiped out on his bike, and I almost lost one of my cousins when another biker slammed into him.
And a very good friend of mine, a fellow conservative, wiped out on his over 30 years ago, and today he can hardly walk because he injured his back when it happened.

A deer almost got me back in 97, while coming home from work in NW IL. That was the end of night riding for me. In 03 a 19 yr old offered me a few bucks more than my bike was worth, so I let it go. I wasn’t farming anymore, and it was my also my quick way to check the cow herd and mend fence. It wasn’t missed that much, so I never bought another.

6 yrs in Tennessee, and seeing idiots crossing the center line on all these twisty roads, and 3 deer strikes with the suv, has me convinced to stick with the cage night or day.

Riding through the orchards in the San Joaquin during pollinating season was always fun. At least a hundred honey bee strikes an one our two in your helmet for good measure.

I will never forget catching a red wasp in my mouth when riding my bicycle when I was a kid. I was spitting and sputtering for a while, but I was not stung.

We need more SUV control. SUV violence is worse than gun violence.
