I had a buddy on a bike that had a mattress come off the roof of a car in front of him.

at least motorcycle guy had decent protective gear and gloves, although the pants will never come clean.
I am sure he is hurting a lot.

Been a motorcycle rider for over 50 years, including the freeways of Southern California. Sold both of my motorcycles this year and am officially retired from Motorcycles. It was a great “ride” so to speak but age coupled with how dangerous it is out there now....it was time. The cell phone is a game changer. Too many people on their cell phones....causing too many accidents.
I got out alive and I’m happy.

I thought the whole thing was going to happen on the right of the motorcycle and when it did finally occur I literally was shocked, moving backwards and closing my eyes!
Wow!

Driver of that stolen van has died. = Poetic Justice.
The guy on the motorcycle probably thought he was halucinating: “Is that an SUV I see flying towards my general direction like a burning meteor? Why yes. It most certainly is!”

I know so many people who were killed on bikes it’s insane, including my own uncle. I use to have one in the early 1980s until I got cut off and had a spill and that was it for me. There’s just too many lunatics on the road.

The crash left the driver of the stolen Lexus SUV dead as the car slammed into a 30-foot embankment following its impact with the pickup truck. The car caught fire and exploded as onlookers attempted to extract the driver from the wreckage

The driver of the Lexus, which had been stolen about an hour before the crash, did not survive the impact. The deceased’s identity was not released by authorities.
The driver, who had reportedly been released from rehab shortly before the crash, was traveling down an incline at a high speed and struck around six warning markers in the center median before slamming into the pickup truck.
So it sounds like the driver got released from rehab, then promptly stole a Lexus SUV. I guess he needed some more rehab. In So Cal, he probably got put in rehab instead of his crime actually being prosecuted.

One of the many, many reasons why I'm glad I've never ridden,or ever will ride,a bike. I worked in a big city ER and I can guaranteed that in Emergency Rooms motorcycles are known as “donorcycles”...meaning that they're the source of many transplantable hearts, lungs, livers, kidneys, corneas and other things.

Sometimes, both are needed, rehab and a few years of ‘supervised meditation’ in lock up.

I am glad the guy on the motorcycle survived.
