The Republican Party has a historic opportunity to revive the old Reagan coalition. The person standing in the way is the 45th president, writes the former attorney general.
During the Republican primaries in 2016, I supported, in succession, every alternative to Donald Trump. I did not see him as our party’s standard-bearer. He was not my idea of a president. I could see that he was grossly self-centered, lacked self-control, and almost always took his natural pugnacity too far. While he could be compelling, I found myself cringing at his frequently juvenile, bombastic, and petulant style.
I also saw Trump’s strengths. I liked the clear and direct way he staked out a position and his willingness to state unpleasant truths that many were afraid to say. I appreciated that he was willing to confront head-on difficult issues—like unfair trade deals, or our allies’ paltry defense spending—that other politicians dodged. Above all, Trump had accurately diagnosed, and given voice to, the deep frustration of many middle-class and working-class Americans who were fed up with the excesses of progressive Democrats; the shameless partisanship of the mainstream media; and the smug condescension of elites who had mismanaged the country, sold them out, and appeared content to preside over the decline of America.
But it is now clear he lacks the qualities essential to achieving the kind of unity and broad election victory in 2024 so necessary if we are to right our listing republic. It is time for new leadership.

Don’t be ridiculous. SoS isn’t running.
The choice is between Trump and DeSantis.
Both are fine on policy.
I believe Trump will lose because his style turns off to many.
I believe DeSantis is more likely to win than Trump.
However, I will support and vote for whoever is the nominee.

Being obsessive is ignoring Trump’s liabilities.
Barr cannot see the forest for the trees.

That’s absurd. My point is, first you have to win because if
you don’t win your policies don’t matter because you can’t implement them if you’re not the winner.
That’s not the meaning of obsessive. Regardless, no one is over looking his liabilities as every candidate and every human has them, even uour Golden Boy DiSantis. It’s a matter of weighing the positives against the negatives and making an informed choice. BTW: We haven’t formally met. Can I call you Paul?
I certainly hope so!
Barr is a liar, a traitor and a back stabbed. A pure Bush puppet.
I forgot all about Rod Rosenswine!
Sewage ALWAYS backs up if it isn’t dumped.
“He was not my idea of a president. ‘’’’blah blah blah.”
Why didn’t you take him under your wing Bill, help him with the inside skinny on DC and how to get things done? You know serve the office of POTUS with the utmost duty of loyalty no matter the occupant?
Better yet, why Bill did you even take the job? You sound like a whiner, a sore loser.

I don't know how.... but this disgruntled Republican is sure going to
GIVE TRUMP MY VOTE A THIRD TIME!!!!
GO TRUMP GO!!!!
I share your opinion that Trump can't win.
If Bill Barr died of natural causes this minute; the world would be a better place.
Some people make the world better by being in it and some by leaving it.
Well I think that's how we got in this mess in the first place, by consistently voting for the most popular candidate rather than the most qualified and effective.
In my opinion, Trump has proven to be most qualified and effective, even more so than Ron DeSantis, who I respect and like very much.
I heard all that crap about John McCain and Mitt Romney, too. No, thanks.
Well, “most conservative candidate who can win” isn’t quite the same as just “most popular”, but I get your point.
The deep state controls our government.
Trump is the only person alive who can defeat the deep state and return power to the people.
Desantis or whoever will go along to get along. That is not the answer.
Trump. period. there is no alternative.
Stop trying to be smart. It’s embarrassing.
Trump will nto win unless we first we need to get ahaed of VBM, Vote By Mail, can’t just bitch about cheating
From “Election Wizard” in quotes:
It doesn’t matter if it is Trump or DeSantis on top of the ticket because “Democrats fortified their COVID mass mail-in-voting apparatus, vote by mail VBM. It’s a vote-harvesting juggernaut that will continue to produce competitive results no matter the GOP nominee. “
“It it’s crucial to understand VBM has changed the game in many ways. 2020 wasn’t a one-off. There is now a well-established Democrat machine that will harvest hordes of votes during “Election Month.” “
What they legally do (some call it legal cheating) is go to each registered Democrat and ask them if they want them to hand in their ballot, Fetterman had 70% of his vote in before the debate, two weeks before the election. In every questionable state, AZ, NV, PA the democrats control the Secretary of State-the people in charge of voting. And of course who knows about the illegal cheating who is really filling in the ballots but it is untraceable in almost every state.
This is illegal in every European country where 90% of the vote is on election day and they get the results in hours. Republicans need to do the same-yes go, door to door and ask for ballots . Or get the state to go with Fl election rules
