* Sam's Club just reduced the price of its hot dog and soda combo to $1.38.
* The deal is now cheaper than Costco's version of the combo.
* Sam's Club recently raised membership prices, but still remains less expensive than Costco.

Sam's Club is lowering the price of its hot dog and soda combination from $1.50 to $1.38, Walmart CEO Doug McMillon told investors in a third-quarter earnings call.
Sam's Club's hot dog is famously in competition with Costco's version of the deal, still priced at $1.50. Neither grocery chain raised the price despite historic inflation over the past year, and Costco CEO Craig Jelinek repeatedly confirmed that there were no plans to raise the price.
Now the Walmart-owned chain has one-upped Costco by cutting the price by about 10%. The latest change to Costco's menu was a price hike on soda and chicken bakes in July. The chicken bake increased by $1, and the soda cost increased by 10 cents, although it did not impact the price of the hot dog and soda combo.

This is the kind of price war I can get behind.
Never had the Sam Club hot dog? Any good?
Very good.
The premimum, more expensive hot dogs, are scary enough to eat.
It is really good! A Polish sausage in reality!................
Indeed they are! They stick out of the bun. I just wish they had better condiments. They have the little packs of relish and messy mustard ketchup dispensers. No onions are offered!
Costco no longer offers sauerkraut or chopped onions as condiments. Does Sam’s?
They need to put Coke back into the soda fountains at Sam’s
FTA:
“Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said the price decrease is part of an effort aimed at “making the everyday shopping trip better.” Other parts of the plan include keeping prices on Thanksgiving staples the same as last year and slashing pricier items like rack of lamb and lobster tails.”
I’d love to see the cuts on rack of lamb and lobster tails at my local Sam’s Club where lobster’s now $39.95 per pound, up nearly 100% from two years ago.
You can’t use cash at the Costco snack bar (credit only), unlike Sam’s.
Same thing at Costco
I use cash all the time at the Costco snack bar. Maybe it is just particular to the one you go to?
“Never had the Sam Club hot dog? Any good?”
mrs. catnipman says they’re good ...
Some, they have packets of relish, mustard, and ours used to have a chopped onion dispenser, but it was taken away because people, kids mostly, would turn the handle and dump the onions on the floor...............
exactly.... most of them are filled with nitrates and over salted to mask the flavor. If you’re going to eat hotdogs... grassfed, and ditch the empty calorie buns
Ditto Costco.
Not familiar with sams club hot dogs...are they the same size as Costco ones?
I look for the grass fed type myself and haven’t touched a hot dog bun in many years.
