If you have the sniffles or a scratchy throat, you might be wondering how to tell the difference between these three viruses.
"Sneezing, sore throat, nasal congestion, persistent cough, and headache" are all common symptoms of the current COVID
(CDC) notes, listing fever, chills, cough, runny nose, muscle aches, and fatigue among the most common complaints of flu-sufferers
The common cold, "Symptoms may include cough, low grade fever, sneezing, sore throat, and/or stuffy nose," she says.
"Your healthcare provider may be able to help evaluate your specific symptoms. There are also rapid point of care tests that are available to help determine if you have COVID-19, the flu, or RSV."
Given the overlap between symptoms, those tests may be the only surefire way to determine which illness you're suffering from.

Your MD is hopefully suggesting vitamin D3 supplements to put you at lesser risk for COVID, RSV, or the flu.
Vitamin D - The Sunshine Vitamin (Non-FR)
I question if medical history might have turned out happier if vitamin D3 had been discovered before vaccines were.
At that point, "What difference does it make?"
Hat tip to Hil.
In the first year of covid, they found that 15% of covid cases had RSV at the same time.
And I don’t care.
If they switch from martinis to banana daiquiris, they need to be monitored closely.
2018: “Uh, yeah. Feel like I’m comin’ down with somethin’. *cough* Don’t wanna spread it around. Got some stuff I can work on here, so... *ahem* I’m stayin’ home today. Gotta get my flu shot anyway. Check in tomorrow. Later.”
2022: “Ohmigod. I gots the covid-crud or somethin’. *cough* Normally, I’d power through it. You know me... *ahem* I’m stupid that way. Need to get the next booster anyway. I’ll miss the zoom chat. Prolly out tomorrow, too. Later.”
ROTFLMCFASHWUAO!!!
Take two aspirin or Tylenol or advil and stay home for 3 days or so.
i wonder if those cases were the ones that were dyign from ‘covid’? RSV can be nasty- and hard to get over-
If I have cold symptoms or even partial symptoms, I’m not going to a physician to have them suggest treating for COVID or some other crap that I may or may not have & possibly making a bad situation worse. I’ve already had a pretty bad case of COVID & recovered from that, so think that one returning is unlikely.
Friend of mind did a couple covid test, negative.
Found out he had RSV. Wheezing and a cough...
Wheezing is a key thing for rsv.
Guess its not just for young kids and oldies anymore?
His lasted two weeks.
It’s the terminator “vaccines,” Silly.
Riigghhttt..like I’d listen to a doctor after the past 2 and a half years.
5,000 IU/daily of vitamin D3 hasn’t stopped me from getting covid twice, but I still take it because some research shows benefits.
The only party severely affected was my senior poodle Daphne. I carried her upstairs each night at bedtime. That put her face in close proximity to mine. She showed signs of feeling bad on Thursday morning and passed in my wife's arms on Friday night. It took her out very fast.
I’m pretty sure it took out two of my parakeets, middle-aged brothers.
Also, noticed you mentioned Chloraseptic. I had about 24 hours of the “swallowing covid razors” in early August (actually total dysphagia for a few hours) and found the normally effective Chloraseptic had zero analgesic effect (I’ve used it since for minor things and it still works). Same with menthol cough drops and everything else I tried in desperation. That was terrible. Ivermectin, however, did stop the sore throat after 12 hours or so (or it ended coincidentally then).
And a very, very old prescription of benzonatate stopped the violent cough, but I had to take double the Rx dosage.
I didn’t obtain a positive on two lateral flow tests either.
