Second it's a good thing these little snowflakes didn't go to college when I was there. I've seen some very irate professors throw rude students out of the class. This is not high school, this is college people.
The student will “pass” nonetheless.
Looks like the targeted student was a protected minority. Big mistake in this day and age.
Agree though, that tirades like this were not unusual in the chemistry curriculum when I was in school in the 80’s
I’ll bet there’s more to the story than what appears in the video.
These videos never show what led up to the behavior shown. The professor obviously lost it and was unprofessional, but it might be more understandable if we knew the whole story.
I’ll play the devil’s advocate here. Hopefully, the professor had high standards. And if the kid failed, he failed. But the student paid a hefty tuition to take that class. He deserves at least a minimum amount of consideration.
Of course, there might be more to this story. For example, did the kid miss a lot of lectures? Was he a jerk when he was in class?
Said student will now be given a passing grade of 93% and graduates the course. And since his sensibilities have been hurt, maybe they will just graduate him from the college early with a passing grade and give him his degree. Hell, that sounds like my dad back in the 60’s when I brought home a grade he was unhappy with.
Sounds like he had a bad day, before it got worse.
If he failed the course, why did he show up for class? I would have yelled at him for that.
Article doesn’t say if or in what way the student was ‘rude’.
Apparently, the instructor had yelled like this at students before but was never taken to task for it.
There’s no excuse for a “professor” to behave this way. (From all I can find, he’s never succeeded beyond adjunct, which is usually the case with academics who act this way and wind up in the news.)
TSU is an HBCU institution--still has a majority of black students at the undergraduate level.
I went there for one semester after they closed UT Nashville down. Never, ever, again.
Somebody who shouts in my face will get a punch in the nose.
Whatever happened to, “Here is a dime. Go call your mother....”
That is NOT an apology. It's a "I'm sorry I lost it like that in public and lost my job because of it."
It's not remorse for the actual incident itself.
Actually from what I've seen, it's now more like middle school.
Pfft. Poor little snowflake. They used to post everyone’s grades on a door or bulletin boards so you could how you and your pals did.
