Vegetarianism and veganism have been gaining popularity, but the latest fad has people eating only raw plant foods that can be consumed without cooking. Some even won’t eat foods that have been processed or changed from their natural state, such as oat or almond milk.
Raw vegan diet enthusiasts claim that cooking vegetables causes a loss of nutrients and enzymes and believe that the diet will prevent or reverse disease, boost energy levels and improve overall health — but one expert warns this diet trend might actually cause more harm than good if followed for a long period of time.
“While following a plant-based diet can have many benefits for health, the raw vegan diet may potentially be taking things a bit too far and may come with even greater risks if not followed carefully,” Dr. Laura Brown, a registered nutritionist and senior lecturer in nutrition, food and health sciences at Teesside University, said.

Heat caused the cell walls to break down and makes it easier to digest foods and extract more nutrients and calories with less effort.
It is why we have a small gut unlike the other primates and we do not spend all our time stuffing our faces.
But nitwits will nitwit and we can only hope they die off quickly.

They believe that the diet will prevent or reverse disease.

Humans are by nature omnivores. (Kind of like bears.)
We need a balanced diet of vegetables, grains and meats.
Vegetarians originated with people who somehow could not eat stuff that lived. Basically a mental problem.
However they historically balanced lack of meat with consuming milk products, which are pretty good substitute.
Vegans are present day fad started by PETA or whomever.
Vegan food is definitely unbalanced.
It leads to fast lost of weight, which is apparently why people try it, but lack of essential nutrients causes many problems. Without supplements it gets you very sick.
