A growing number of Democrats are openly blaming Republicans for failing to rein in a rise in violent rhetoric in the wake of an assault on Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, who survived with serious injuries.
“A far right white nationalist tried to assassinate the Speaker of the House and almost killed her husband a year after violent insurrectionists tried to find her and kill her in the Capitol,” Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) said on Saturday morning. “And the Republican Party’s response is to either ignore it or belittle it.”
As police continue to investigate the attack, several of Pelosi’s fellow Democrats are pointing fingers at their opponents in Congress - accusing Republican leaders of largely sidestepping the issue of political violence and rising threats for years. Some also called out what they saw as a lackluster public response to the assault, including from House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).
“Yesterday, a man sharing that member’s rhetoric tried to assassinate the Speaker and her spouse,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Saturday morning. Then, referring to McCarthy, she wrote: “What has @GOPLeader said? Nothing. This is who he is.”

The accused assailant, a 42-year-old California man, had asked “Where is Nancy?” before his assault of her husband.
President Joe Biden on Friday evening directly tied those words to chants from pro-Trump rioters as they overran the Capitol complex on Jan. 6, 2021.
“We need to say it out loud,” said Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.). “Militia maniacs, and other rightwing domestic terrorists have exploded because Republicans have spent years winking, nodding, and endorsing their extremism.”

Yeah, ‘cause two flamers in their underwear fighting over a hammer at 2 AM in San Francisco has “Republican” written all over it.
because they’re snakes!
Y’all democrats listen and try to retain this.
If that no name sob that almost killed President Reagin with a 22 pistol in the midst of secret service did that, then, do you think that any politician is safe?Criminal activity and the left go together and try as you may to paint it differently as in the case of Jan 6 it is still so transparent.
And you leftards have gotten whats his face his walking around papers.
It’s the Right that is keeping you alive, all the crazies are on the left “working” for ya’ll.
Certainly, Republican drug addled, mentally deranged, nudists are a major prostitution problem in SF.
Every single day it becomes more and more obvious that there is no political solution to dealing with these insane imbeciles.
It is odd that the first report of the incident has the intruder saying, Where’s Nancy? It’s an odd detail in a murky story. Obviously the Democrat message machine seized upon the report to conflate the incident with J6. Can Dems prove that any J6ers said, where’s Nancy upon entering the capitol? How do we know that the J6 intruders saying this weren’t Democrat paid actors
Still not giving up the narrative, no matter the facts that pile up to the contrary. Peter Pelosi is a drunken old pervert, who INVITED this supposed assailant into his home, and was engaged in a little “rough stuff”.
This is San Francisco, after all, and no “far right-winger” is safe there. David DePape is no “far right-winger”, in any way, shape, form, or manner. Therefore, he considered himself to be “safe”.
Have another vodka nazi, your husband is a homo !
This is looking more and more like a staged event. Can we say “October Surprise”? Something, ANYTHING to blame on the Publicans, and hopefully take folks’ eyes off the Rat failures!
The real story is that the rent boy would have never gotten past Pelosi's security unless Paul Pelosi specifically told them to allow him in.
He was white. That much is true. Some people will believe anything. Some people will taut anything.
none of this passes the smell test: not possible for some random looney-tune to bust a backdoor window pane and waltz into the mansion of the gazillionaire Speaker of the House without setting off a panoply of electronic surveillance alarms ... and where is their private security guards and the secret service when all of this is happening ...
I can’t believe the RATS are so desperate that they would actually pull something like this on an old man in hopes of smearing their political opponents. This is RAT elderly abuse.
It’s time for Nanzi to surrender her industrial strength gavel and for her to stay home and spend more time with her elderly husband.
The defender has to be right 100% of the time....an almost impossible task.
It was Chuck Schumer (Communist-NY) who said the justices of the Supreme Court "won't know what hit you" if they didn't rule the "right way"; and that justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh will "pay the price."
It was the CBS faction of the Democrat/Communist Party that, on national tv, showed the words "Snipers Wanted" under a photograph of President George W. Busn.
... and on and on and on ...
Democrats must be losing big time. They are reaching for the completely incredible.
It’s hard to find out the truth, but some sites are saying DePape was not in his underwear. Hopefully, more information will come out on this.
The most plausible explanation I read is that DePape broke into the home wanting to see Nancy Pelosi. Paul Pelosi called 911 and talked around what was happening, until the 911 operator figured something wasn’t right and sent police. When police arrived, they saw Paul and DePape both holding the same hammer. DePape yanked the hammer away from Paul and proceeded to hit him with it.
As far as DePape being MAGA, far left, or whatever, the guy simply seems mentally ill. Both sides of the political divide are trying very hard not to claim DePape, but someone like him isn’t rational and could be radicalized over pretty much anything. These attacks occur on both sides of the political divide and should be roundly condemned by all.
