We had an LP by Spike Jones that was spooky-scary, fun.
And another by Zacherly.
My brother stepped on the Spike Jones LP, but I still have the Zacherly one, and some of his paperback collections of scary stories.

The song is as old as I am. I was born in September of that year so was barely a month old when this hit the charts - and living in Somerville.

So I grew up with that song every Halloween and as recently as the 1990s, Bobby was still performing that song in nightclubs in the Boston area around Halloween time.

There was a followup to that song for Christmas called "Monster's Holiday" which got a lot of airplay but was a total ripoff of the Monster Mash right down to the Boris Karloff voice.
