Yes. My fave will always be “House of Wax”, wearing 3D glasses, of course.

Oh, man, horror movies... My favorite topic! I could drone on and on with some good ones, but you said "offbeat", so immediately two popped into my head:
"Troll Hunter" -- a mockumentary that is just plain fun to watch, lacking in gore but packing on the humor -- and "As Above, So Below" -- a found-footage that is very well done, claustrophobic (it takes place in the Parisian catacombs), and absolutely Lovecraftian at just the right times.

You can see this one for real on the streets of NYC, and in the Subways.

These aren’t monster movies, but they might scare ya anyway, or at least creep you out some.
“The Red House”, 1947. Edward G. Robinson, Judith Anderson.
“The Other,” 1972. Uta Hagen, Diana Muldaur, John Ritter.

    Island of Terror +1
As a youngster I liked the clever ending to that movie. They solved it with science!
And in that vein: The Monolith Monsters (1957)

The original Jeepers Creepers was amazing the way they built up to the first sighting of the truck.

The Other freaked me out as a kid. Watched it recently and not QUITE as freaked out. (in fact it was on TMC a few days ago).

I’ll probably go to Youtube or Pluto and watch some MST3k.
Best way to watch Monster/Horror movies.
