Here are some of the oddities I have run across lately, including a Cuban zombie film!
It Follows
Set in Detroit Michigan. You might recognize some of the settings
An evil being transmitted by sex. Low budget, but well done. Pretty spooky stuff.
“A young woman is followed by an unknown supernatural force after a sexual encounter.”

Republic Z
Off the wall Mongolian zombie movie? Sure, why not.
“Two guys - Petr and Mette - didn’t chose to stay in the depth of Yakutian taiga. They have to scavenge for food, endure severe low temperatures, and wait for rescue. They spend every day of winter fighting for their own lives. It means roaming around taiga looking for dead bodies and chopping-off their heads. Because when spring comes, every unfound body will unfreeze, and the hunters will become prey”

Juan of the Dead
A Cuban Zombie movie! Humorous and bloody.
“Juan is a slacker trying to reconnect with his daughter, who plans to rejoin her mother in Miami. Lazaro, Juan’s friend, is trying to connect with his own son, a persistent womanizer. They begin to notice that locals are “going crazy”, killing people and eating their flesh, and the recently deceased are returning to life. The Cuban government and the media claim that the zombies are dissidents revolting against the government.”

Infestation
Got a bug phobia? Don’t watch this one!
“Our hero, Cooper, awakes to find himself nauseous, weak and covered in webbing, hanging from the ceiling of an office where, just minutes ago, he started his new job. As he struggles out of his slimy prison he comes face to face with his opponent - a grotesque, powerful and very angry bug. All 3 ft of it. And so begins a hideous, nail-biting, comedic, all-action adventure to find a safe haven while constantly outwitting an infestation of monstrous proportions”

They will Outlive us all
Starts kinda strange. Stick with it. I laffed out loud several times.
Another bug movie. yum.
“New York City. 2016. In the years since Hurricane Sandy, the city has been brought to its knees by a series of ‘Frankenstorms.’ As hurricane season hits yet again, New York braces itself for the oncoming wave of destruction. Roommates Margot and Daniel attempt to survive this ‘new’ New York by avoiding it at all costs. But with the advent of three strange deaths in their Brooklyn building, the world they’ve been hiding from is knocking hard on the back door. They soon discover that the salad days of getting drunk and watching horror movies are behind them,”

Outpost
What did the nazis leave behind in a WW2 bunker? Let’s find out.
The sequel ain’t bad either.
“In a seedy bar in a town ravaged by war, mysterious businessman Hunt hires ex-marine D.C. to assemble a crack team of ex-soldiers to protect him on a dangerous journey into no-man’s land. To this gang of hardened warriors, battle-worn veterans and borderline criminals killing is just a job - and one they enjoy. Their mission - to scope out an old military bunker. It should be easy - 48 hours at the most. Lots of cash for little risk, or so he says. “

Frankensteins Army
One of my all time favorites. Mosin action. Mosquito man. Propeller face. What could Dr. Frankenstein’s grandson be doing to help the nazis in1945?
He should learn to sew better.
“Toward the end of World War II, Russian soldiers pushing into eastern Germany stumble across a secret Nazi lab, one that has unearthed and begun experimenting with the journal of one Dr. Victor Frankenstein.”

The Haunting-original 1963 movie, based on a Shirley Jackson novel.
No blood, just bone chilling sounds, dialogue and cinematography. Julie Harris was brilliant.
Any of President Rutabagas press conferences/speeches.
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!..................
However, the one film I did watch that briefly freaked me out was The Ring. When that visual "blurb" moved across the TV screen near the beginning in the movie, THAT caught me off guard and freaked me out. I shouldn't have watched in in the dark...as I was advised to.
Other than that....can't come up with any that are worth the time to watch.
The Devil’s Rock.
British horror film. Commandos land to sabotage a nazi installation. There’s a castle. What could the nazis be up to there?
Very bloody.
“In 1944, the New Zealander’s soldiers Captain Ben Grogan and Sergeant Joseph Tane are assigned to explode a German military facility in a occupied Channel Island to create a diversion far from the Normandy on the eve of the D-Day. They hear screams inside the installation that is apparently unprotected and they prepare the explosives. When Grogan overhears a woman scream, he decides to seek her out inside the bunker”

The fly on the screen was pretty cool. (American re-make?)
Some Halloween madness
The Babadook...good flick and very off the wall. Part farcical and part down right scary and thought-provoking.
The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra.
You must. Trust me on this one.
Pair The Ring with The Grudge. (the Scary Movie parodies are pretty funny)
