Here are some of the oddities I have run across lately, including a Cuban zombie film!
Argento does some strange stuff
That works too!
I watch horror movies to cheer me up after watching the news.
When I was in fifth grade, I could name all the classic Universal horror films and the years they were made and their stars. I also made and painted all of those monster models and collected monster magazines. I still like those oldie Universal films with Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Dewight Frye, and Lon Chaney, Jr.
Of the very low budget pictures, I like the Zombies of Mora Tau and The Giant Gila Monster (the one produced by Ken Curtis who played Festus on Gunsmoke). The remake called Gila was not good but kudos to them for giving Don Sullivan a cameo (He was the star of the original).
The Blob with Steven McQueen was good.
The Exorcist was so good even the excavation scenes were transfixing.
I like the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers better than the remake.
The Haunting with Claire Bloom scared me more as a youngster than any other film.
Flesh Eating Mothers.
The Thing (1982) with Kurt Russel creeped me out.
Eraser Head.
The town that dreaded sundown (true story about a serial murderer in Texarkana in 1946)

Legend of Boggy creek (a bigfoot movie also based on a true story)

yeah, the red house. good one
You’re right Halloween 3 is underrated. It was not a sequel and probably should have had another title.
The Lost Skeleton is awesome.
Roger Corman presents: Alien Avengers, with the guy who played Norm on Cheers as a husband who brought his wife and 2 kids to Earth with clothing and dialect lifted from 1050’s sitcoms...to hunt the predators in bad neighborhoods.
uproariously funny, even with the occasional gore.
Saw “Terrifier 2”. All I can say is, well, Art the Clown outdid himself! lol
Mandy and Black Rainbow had the same director, I’m sure you know. The Void was a better attempt at Lovecraft, and of course Cage’s Colour Out Of Space is just bananas.
Dead & Buried. A little quaint in its 1970’s execution, but the ending lands perfectly.
I liked Mandy way better than Colour Out of Space. I did see the Void, it had its moments and was good for its budget.
Have you seen The Endless? It’s another spin on the lovecraft vibe.

Freegards
“GARGOYLES”
I remember that!
