Preclinical studies in mice that model human COVID-19 suggest that an inexpensive, readily available amino acid might limit the effects of the disease and provide a new off-the-shelf therapeutic option for infections with SARS-CoV-2 variants and perhaps future novel coronaviruses.
Researchers report that an amino acid called GABA, which is available over-the-counter in many countries, reduced disease severity, viral load in the lungs, and death rates in SARS-CoV-2-infected mice.
Said Daniel Kaufman: "If our observations of the protective effects of GABA therapy in SARS-CoV-2-infected mice are confirmed in clinical trials, GABA could provide an off-the-shelf treatment to help ameliorate infections with SARS-CoV-2 variants. GABA is inexpensive and stable at room temperature, which could make it widely and easily accessible, and especially beneficial in developing countries."
GABA and GABA receptors are most thought of as a neurotransmitter system in the brain. Years ago, researchers found the immune system also possessed GABA receptors and that the activation of these receptors inhibited the inflammatory actions of immune cells. Taking advantage of this property, the authors reported in a series of studies that GABA administration inhibited autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis in mouse models of these ailments.
The research team administered GABA to the mice just after infection with SARS-CoV-2, or two days later when the virus levels are near their peak in the mouse lungs. While the vast majority of untreated mice did not survive this infection, those given GABA just after infection, or two days later, had less illness severity and a lower mortality rate over the course of the study. Treated mice also displayed reduced levels of virus in their lungs and changes in circulating immune signaling molecules, known as cytokines and chemokines, toward patterns that were associated with better outcomes in COVID-19 patients.

So add this to the benedryl, prilosec, and prevacid to kill the cytokine storm, and D3, zinc, and NAC for everything else Covid?
GABA is present in some fermented foods, including kimchi, miso and tempeh. It's also found in green, black and oolong tea.
Why?, he asks.
I I’d leave out the Benadryl. Dementiaside effects.
(And, if available, Ivermectin....)
For my daughter; For me to try sometimes to aid in sleep.
It would appear so.
We use this for anxiety. During sleep, it facilitates the production of Human Growth Hormone and facilitates healing.
Research was a long time ago, but, IIRC, it should not be used for long periods or at high dosages.
The brand we have is 750 mg and we take one before bed. Usually don’t need it for a prolonged period, but we limit to no more than 3 consecutive days.
Used it for years and never had a bad reaction or any side effects I’m aware of.
Not from administering it on an acute basis.
So, can someone translate “GABA amino acid supplement” into what to look for OTC?
Thanx in advance
Just look for GABA. That’s what it’s called.
Thanks for the insight! :)
I would only use it for the wet runny cough stage of suspected Covid. No more than a couple of days use. (Future Dementia? Or next week unconscious on a ventilator in ICU being plyed with remdisavir with Vaxed wife's approval? ("Why don't you believe The doctors and the Science???" ) )
Thanks.

Several bottles...Where did you buy this?
