Mayne I'm making mountain out of mole hills and I just wanted to vent on something here on a simple observation I have made on society today versus what it was say from the 1980's and before. I was born in 1966 so I'm 56 years old. As time goes on, I am having more and more trouble making sense of the way the world is going today and I just scratch my head or just end up giving the old "South Park" 1000 meters stare while staving off a mental "Blue Screen of Death." I was going to type this long ago but listening to music from the 1970's and especially the 1980's (I'm a 1980's guy, often I joke, I'm an overaged 1980's teenager. B-)) and watching the Brady Bunch, it sort of lit a fire under by rump.
I work in the insurance industry for public health plans like Medicaid and Medicare, mainly the former. I go through calls and cases and I mean no ill will to anyone but I made an observation where a lot of families, especially the mothers have a different surname from the kids. This used not to be that way and it seems like this is a huge crack in families and the way of life we used to know and understand. It's getting to the point where I need a playbook to figure out who is who along with a liberal supply of graph paper. It used not to be this way. Again, maybe this is not really major to some but this is just something that drives me bananas when I see it all the time.
I really don't care who marries whom and so forth as long as all sides mutually consent with no duress, just live your own life and don't force it on me or society at large. I just think people will do what they are going to do. Even so, we are losing a lot of our values, values that kept us together fairly well until the huge cracks started in the Clinton Era onward although like many hear, the origins really go much further back than that.
I'm just an average person trying to make it in the world, working for a living, trying to keep my car running and bills paid and surviving.
There are times I felt I was in space for 30 years and came back to a world which I do not like. If I could, I'd stay as long as I can in orbit until my supplies run out, my solar cells start to conk out and batteries croak, then I'd have no choice. I just don't like this "Brave New World."
I apologize for the post, maybe to some, it is not as mportant and just something I needs to get off my chest.
If I could be transported back to say 1955, I would be pretty happy because then I'd be dead before we came to these current times.
Not a small thing and not just the usual complaints from older people about negative changes. Wokeism has the real potential for disastrous results.
‘Idiocracy’ isn’t just a movie…
The Democrat party and their social programs facilitate the breakdown of the family. They are not concerned about the social consequences because it builds dependence on the government.
You’re not the only one who sees the world going to hell. I graduated high school 24 years ago, and if you had told me then that two men, or two women would be able to marry, I would have looked at you like you just grew a second head.
I first heard “Surf City” when I was staying in a hotel in San Francisco in the last week of June 1963—a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, when The City had a Republican mayor (and LA had a Democratic mayor who was more conservative than most Republicans).
I just want you to know that my punctuation marks are, “!” and “?”.
If “the mothers have a different surname from her kids,” then I feel confused. Where is the father? Yes, the lack of fathers brings about numerous problems for mothers and children, such as lower incomes, lower test scores and lower church attendance.
Solution: pray, do your job and don’t worry.
Lately my Mom and I have been watching old Elvis movies on Friday nights. The movies themselves were so-so, but they did show an America that was a 100x nicer place to live - from coast to coast.
I was born in 1951 and had an older brother
with a different surname from my moms prior marriage.
My oldest son will turn 56 on Election Day, November 8th. It was Election Day November 8th, 1966, the day he was born.
All my “problems” in my life are within me,.....and my fault.
Which means I can overcome them by working on and improving myself.
Or I can make peace with whatever is bothering me, if I can’t change it, and enjoy life.
When government took over as baby-daddy, it rapidly began the decline of America. It ripped responsibility away from men, and women. “Don’t worry, government will pay for your kid, food, housing…”
I watched a youtube video of Lynyrd Skynyrd performing in 1978 in Oakland California. Free Bird. Lots of young people but what I noticed was no tats or piercings.
I am 60 and yes the culture has changed a lot for the worse.
Some things I don’t understand and really don’t want to know.
I remember as a young boy in GITMO, there was one boy whose parents had been divorced and his mom had remarried. We all wondered what that was all about. He seemed to always be getting in big trouble. We guessed that was because his parents had divorced.
My time in GITMO was in the early 1960’s.
Could you imagine Lynyrd Skynyrd playing a gig in Oakland today?
I know that teenage sex has been a thing ever since we had teenagers (just look at the beach movies of the 1960s), but I do think that Bill Clinton's comment that "oral sex is not sex" pushed things out into the open and gave teens the permission they wanted to put their sexuality out into public view in ways never seen before.

Lately, I’ve been listening to sound checks back from the late 60s from KHJ in Los Angeles, the radio station featured in the movie ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’, complete with DJ banter and commercials, I put it on at night to go to sleep, and it takes me back to my childhood.
