A Florida man who robbed a bank while armed with a machete was sentenced to federal prison.
Herve Fils Viaud, 31, was sentenced today by United States District Judge William P. Dimitrouleas to 78 months in federal prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release for robbing TD Bank in Delray Beach, Florida.
On February 1, 2022, Viaud walked into a TD Bank wielding a machete. Viaud threatened to hurt several bank employees with the machete unless he was given money. Fearing for their lives, the employees gave Viaud approximately $1,234.
A bank customer called 911 and reported the getaway car used by Viaud to leave the bank. Subsequently, the Delray Beach Police Department, Broward County Sheriff’s Office, and Miami Gardens Police Department pursued Viaud.
Police followed the man onto I-95, heading towards Boyton Beach.
Authorities said the Viaud then traveled south through Broward County and into Miami-Dade County, where he led Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and Miami-Dade police on a high-speed chase.

What kind of mane is Herve Fils Viaud?
Reads like an anagram.
>>What kind of mane is Herve Fils Viaud?
I am guessing Haitian.
Sounds like a French/Haitian name.
Good thing I wasn’t the teller, I’d have slipped $.56 cents into the bag as well.
Being OCD will get me killed some day probably.
I used to have a combo lock with that combo.................
Looks to me like somebody made that number up — and was lazy.
Either nobody knows how much money he took (which I doubt) or the person who came up with the phony number didn’t think the public should know what the actual amount was.
Just my opinion.

How about being a Haitian as a guess?
It sounds French.
If it’s that long, why express it in months?
Because otherwise, people would be saying, “ONLY SIX AND A HALF YEARS???”
Banks are pretty accurate when it comes to counting their own money.
It may have been a pre-loaded packet of cash with a dye bomb in it and serial numbers recorded..............
Florida Man must have a thing for machetes
Prisons have effectively become mental instititions.
That's where I was robbed and shot with a .32cal, by some knuckle-dragging ghetto subhumans, on July 14th, 1975, leaving the legendary Tropical Acres Steak House, with my fiancee. I still carry the bullet near my left side's lower spine, inside the pelvis. Missed all bones, organs, arteries/veins. I still have one of the original South Miami Hospital's Trauma Center X-Rays:
