Texas woman, 35, reveals she almost died from sepsis when doctors refused to abort dying baby at 18 weeks - forcing her to endure inevitable miscarriage

A Texas woman has revealed that she nearly died from sepsis after doctors in the abortion-ban state refused to remove an inviable child from her body.

Amanda Zurawski, 35, was 18 weeks pregnant with her daughter when she noticed something was wrong - but she was forced to wait three days until she was 'sick enough' for medics to perform an emergency abortion.

On August 23, she found out that she had an incompetent cervix - meaning that she had dilated too early and miscarriage was inevitable.

Because of strict abortion laws in Texas following the overturn of Roe v Wade, she wasn't allowed to make the decision to remove the fetus from her body - nor were doctors going to operate - meaning she had to wait it out until she got sick.

It took her an agonizing three days at home before the Texas ethics board agreed to begin medical treatment to remove the child - which was now a stillborn - from her womb.

She's now facing long-term health and bacterial issues because of the traumatic ordeal - and is set to undergo surgery next week.

And she fears that the delayed healthcare may have permanently affected her fertility and worsened her chances of carrying her own baby one day.

Knowing that she was walking around with an unviable baby inside her, heartbroken Amanda told People: 'It could be days, it could be weeks. And knowing that we just had to live with that, it was incapacitating.

'I was unable to function. I didn't work, I didn't eat, I didn't sleep. I was left wanting to either get so sick that I almost died or, praying for my baby's heart to stop beating — this baby that I had wanted and worked to have for 18 months.'

Think about what pro-baby-killing doctors want to professionally do in exchange for money?

Does anyone here imagine such a person would not eagerly let a woman die just to have a body they could point to on the battlefield of politics?

Hey, the woman may be lying ... but then again maybe the doctors were willing to see her die if it meant returning to business as usual, even then knowing that they could use her for propaganda even if she survived!

We should rule the world by anecdote.

If we can find JUST ONE EXCEPTION in a world of nearly 8 billion people, then that anecdote should determine the law.

You have just nailed how progressives work.

They use rhetoric to inspire irrational feelings and irrational feelings to get people to follow the progressive line.

Me too. I don’t believe any doctor would tell a woman to go home and wait for a miscarriage if that baby was not viable in the womb.

Me, too. Sounds unbelievable. Why is she lying? Did she do something to cause this?

We don’t know all.the specifics of her case, but why was she so sure that her baby was non-viable, and that her own life was at immediate risk? She talks about the possibility of waiting for weeks for the baby to die, but six weeks would give her child a chance. And this was a wanted pregnancy after fertility problems.

The article says “walking around”. Is that meant literally? Because bed rest is usually prescribed.

If there was already a known infection, then the mother’s life was at risk, and Texas law would permit induction or termination.

Confusion in the mother, or the doctors regarding the law, or in the journalist.

Because she’s lying. Go home and wait for the baby to die is not the standard treatment for an incompetent cervix. Last I checked it was stitching the cervix shut, progesterone and complete bedrest.

(1) Publicly release EVERY relevant medical record.

(2) Name the medical personnel who refused to intervene.

(3) Sue the medical personnel who endangered your life.

(4) Then, I will believe this actually happened.

Excellent point. Abortionists love death and they love killing. No doubt they would let women die for their political point.

You are RIGHT! My sister had 2 atopic pregnancies and there is no way a baby can make it 9 months in the fallopian tube, outside the uterus. The doctors rushed her in for an abortion. She was VERY sad. She had gone through fertility treatments to get PG. Doctors do not fool around when there is a dead or dying baby inside you!
