Man arrested for stealing Lego sets from Walmart

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Branford resident Richard Fredrick Torrey, III, 35, was arrested Sunday after allegedly stealing Lego sets from Walmart.
At 3:59 p.m. Torrey entered Walmart with re-usable shopping bags going to the Lego section of Walmart in Butler Plaza, Gainesville, Florida.
Torrey filled the shopping bags with 26 Lego sets with a value of $1,001 and walked past cash registers.
A Walmart loss prevention employee called Gainesville Police to report Torrey exiting the store.

Remember the times when the employee counts items, looks you in the eyes, and then makes a mark on your cash register tape? That means they care about whether you paid for merchandise or not. But the real dead giveaway is the cameras recording every foolish thing you might do.

We have a used media (books music, toys, collectables) place here (2nd and Charles) that buys legos and if the set isnt complete puts them out on a table that was a buck a pound at one point. What you are talking about I have seen people doing, including a local gunsmith who gave me his card.

So buy a 3d printer and just print your own. I'm sure there are some files out there that you can print, but there i no way that they would be worth a crap to build with. Lego are some really amazingly high precision products made of some of the best quality ABS you can buy. Pick up some 'mega blox' or any other generic lego-type bricks, and try to build just about any kind of structure with them. They won't support their own weight, because they are crap. Lego are not cheap, but they freaking work, and last.
