Not yet.
I closed my 20 y/o PayPal account a few days ago....took 24 hours to “finalize” & close (didn’t have $$ in the account at the time of closure)...but no other issues closing it. My Venmo (owned by PalPal) account is next.
ESG may not be OPENLY government mandated, but entities like banks and PayPal are subject to numerous government regulatory agencies.
I sense a message is being sent to them by the Democrats: crack down on our enemies or you will experience “problems”.
Note for those like me who watch a lot of news and informational videos. Under the settings button at the bottom right of a youtube video , you will find a means for adjusting the speed of replay of the video. This helps one go through a lot more videos in much less time.
This is how companies are destroyed throughout history....they forget about their customers and place value on things that customers do not agree with.
Well, have not used PayPal in that good long while and will continue not to do so.
What we are seeing is an EXACT REPLICA of the way the German National Socialists managed their economy. Rather than expropriating the means of production the way the Bolsheviks did, they said to business owners: “You can retain private ownership of your factories and service businesses, but the State will tell you how to run them”. And they did, right down to the level of the local butchers and bakers.
“... ESG is not government mandated or regulated ...”
IMHO there are FedGov operatives making the rounds of all significant businesses in finance, manufacturing, etc and passing the message “Nice little operation you got going here. Be a shame if something bad were to happen to it because you didn’t have any sort of ESG policy in effect.”
The folks in Obama’s third term think nothing of threats like this.
Bump for reference.
Like the income tax. Or the protection coverage that the mafia offers to a neighborhood.

This letter is an active and on-going investigation into problems and roadblocks encountered in trying to close my Paypal account.
ESG = Corporate Fiduciary Negligence
PayPal is sending out notifications to all the merchants we’ve used over the years, letting them know we’ve dumped PayPal.
Note to said merchants: We’re going to be doing a lot less online shopping now because of the inconvenience to us.
You all might want to have a word with PayPal.
Ideally, Paypal is a wonderful concept. However, the price of liberty is eternal vigilance. The left is slobbering with lust over getting their fingers in yet another fulcrum area of money tranfer, both to line their pockets and move the currents of culture (tied to money) towards centralized control.
I think the key to responding to this will be to bail on those organizations which are leftist cesspools, tell them why, and support freedom loving outfits. There are a number of alt programs for everything from social media to money transfer, and new ones are popping up every day.
It may be discouraging in the beginning, as these outfits have grown spectacularly, and with good reason. They served a need, and people piled into them like commuters on a Bejing subway car. However, paypal, google, etc have gotten a bit too big for their britches and it is time to move on, let them wither and become yet another brick in the wall.
I am on the lookout for a liberty supporting, freedom advocating, free speech affirming engine for money transfer. Lots of entrepreneurial guys out there who see the need for this. Be alert and give it time.
Unless there is a complete CCP-like seizure of control over the internet at large (and then we will have other, bigger problems), we are still at a point where decentralized engines will have the advantage. These guys are cannibalizing the husks of their former success. Let them die. They will, you know.
The Department of Labor-Employee Benefits Security Administration is presently working on ESG regulations for qualified retirement plans (including your 401(k)) which will allow liberals in charge of your trust funds to manage these assets accordingly.
I'm not so sure about that.
If Blackrock and Vanguard are run by ex-Fed directors, and if Blackrock and Vanguard are considered "essential", "too big to fail" institutions, if they are the starting point when the Fed injects liquidity into the market, they are defacto "government" organs.
When Blackrock and Vanguard tell corporations that they need to employ ESG to get funding and investment, that can be considered "government mandated or regulated" ESG.
It is no different than the White House threatening Twitter and Facebook with consequences if they don't censor political speech. The censorship is not explicitly "government mandated or regulated" but in reality it is.
its corporate now but the
individual ESG is coming
i hope you paid cash for your MAGA hat
its not govt mandated
like the social media cancellations are not govt mandated
how about govt directed?
is that censorship enough for you?
like MSG
ESG give me a headache
so all of my orders are no ESG
