Some people might never get Covid thanks to their genes, scientists say.
Researchers from the University of Oxford have found that people who have a particular mutation produce a larger antibody response after getting vaccinated.
Around 30 to 40 per cent of people have the gene, known as HLA-DQB1*06. The boosted protection might be enough to block out infections entirely.
It may partly explain why some people never get the virus, even when family members come down with the virus.
The US has the highest number of confirmed cases of any country in the world at 179million, the equivalent of more than half of the entire population.
This is likely an underestimate, however, because testing was patchy at the start of the outbreak and some people never take a test.
Yet, anecdotally there are many stories of people whose entire families come down with the virus and they avoid an infection – even after sharing a bed with someone who is sick.
This group of people have been dubbed ‘never Covid’ and scientists have never quite worked out how they managed it.
The ‘never Covid’ group might have a gene called HLA-DQB1*06

Nobody has any idea as to what percentage of the US population has had COVID. PCR rapid test created a large percentage of false positives. Positive results were followed by confirming tests, and a few more to clear a single infected person to return to work. And nobody was keeping track of “the Who of it”. The whole COVID response what hopelessly mismanaged.
My 85 year old mother was perfectly healthy until she got covid. Until that point, she was seemingly invulnerable other than the usual slow decline from getting older.
However, it took her almost a year to recover from covid and she ended up with a stone in her pancreas ducts. That nearly finished her.
This is me! Been exposed 3 times and haven’t gotten.
One tme i was in the car with my daughter for 8 hours and shared a hotel room with her the day she tested positive.
“Never had it. Never vaxed.”
Last question — ? Do you currently have the anti-bodies floating around in your blood.
Maybe you got it and never knew it.
Does this 30% have the antibodies ?
My sister luckily had a light case because she had Guillain-Barre in the past and cannot tolerate very many meds.
Pretty sure I had it twice but never bothered “testing” myself.
Pink eye for the first time, achy neck for the second.
Two days, max.
I’ve had hangnails that were more annoying.
/immune system of, well, a salamander
;D
Yep....Quercetin and Vit C won’t hurt, either.
the C-V test is unreliable, as well...
“was in bath & body works and couldn’t smell anything I sampled”
Knowing you were sick, why were you out and
about spreading the virus? (even if it was
truly COVID)?
When I’m sick for any reason, I stay home.
I have not had that I know of nor my wife. We had two people in the house with it. Kids are o neg minus one and wife are as well. Two with o neg got it. One with o neg did not and he is a fireman. One that is not has had it multiple times. Makes no sense as I was not that careful.
Most mornings I feel the genetic fossils. :^)

I got it 3 month after my booster and missed it when both my kids had it.
Ditto
Didn't get sick, didn't get tested, certainly no reason for a blood test.
I'm not sick - so I don't care.
I did have the sniffles a couple of times since March 2020 - maybe it was, doesn't matter - I did what I've done for 64 years to treat a cold.
I would like to get an antibody test I think.
I have never had it, my wife did, I was ‘Intimate’ with her the day before, I also slept in the same bed while she was recovering.
I gave her the horse paste when she had it…don’t know if it helped. (5 days)
Covid was hard on her but I never got it.
Quercetin Zinc supplement. etc daily and horse past every two weeks since August 2021.
I am now dosing the supplements and horse paste back a bit.
Reminds me 3 weeks, it’s time for my vet appointment.
Whinnney!
Never had it...
...never will!
Crisp and clean with no vaccine.
ha ha ha!
They will fix that when the new variant comes out.
Lol. It was literally two weeks later. A delayed reaction that only lasted one day. Thought it strange.
