Divorce Lawyer Reveals 5 Questions To Ask Before You Marry
Forbes ^ | Oct 14, 2022 | Ginger Gentile

Kelly Chang Rickert rose to TicTok fame by giving pithy advice so you don’t end up in her office asking her to litigate (or better yet, mediate) your divorce. Happily married herself, she reveals the top 5 questions you should ask before marriage so you don't end up divorced:

1. What is your credit score? (And ask to see recent credit report)

.....

2. Children

......

3. Household chores

......

4. Sex

......

5. Health

.....

These questions are just the starting point. It is much better to have an awkward conversation now than having this conversation in front of your lawyer, or the judge in your case. Divorces and reveal embarrassing personal information, so if you cannot bring it up to your fiancé imagine how you will feel in a deposition.

I would add conservative or liberal to that list as well, but I think you’d be able to figure that out through dating.

Personally, the first question I asked my at the time to my girlfriend, now wife was what do you think about abortion?
No way I could marry someone who would want to kill my potential child.
NEVER!

“Politics was not included?”

The answer to those questions will define your politics.

Answer those questions and I will know your politics.

Yep, I’ve heard that, if you want to know what your lady will look like in about 20-30 years, look to see what her mother looks like.

Well, I would hope there’s more to a man’s desire to be with a woman, than the vagina. I love sex as much as anyone, but sex alone will not sustain a marriage or long term relationship.

I agree. But many of these things change as you get older. Sex, Health and even children can change depending on your age.

didn't take long for the hater to make his hatred of women known.....what a sad person you must be...

I suppose you hate your mother as well, and any daughters you might have...poor things.

after 16 years of child support always late(but I paid it off in full on my very last payment date!!) I was just shocked to learn 3 1/2 years later my credit score was close to 800!! I honestly couldnt believe it... so... I just may be eligible for a young hot babe!! though i’m sure we’d clash a bit on the chores issue... I’m still a little old fashion that way!!

Faith? Will the kids be raised by the wife, by both, or by daycare? Is each spouse capable of gratitude? Can each one apologize if they are wrong? Is your spouse trying to keep learning and maturing — are they going to be a finer person 30 years from now than they are today? Are they trustworthy and self-sacrificing?
I read an article about a divorce mediator years ago who observed that marriages fail because one or both are being selfish. I think there is much truth to this.

We asked these type of questions before we got married. We are both Christians and both Conservative politically. We worked out everything. Been married 22 years.

**Is your to-be mother-in-law fat?**

It was over a week from when I had my first date with my future bride, on 9-24-77 (met the night before), that I met her parents.

I had already been smitten by the young lady’s personality, voice, and appearance (could have passed for a younger sis to Jennifer O’Neill).

Her dad looked like a younger brother of John Wayne (even walked and sounded like him), and her mother looked like an older sister of Kim Novak (complete with hair dyed blonde). Their daughter is taller, thanks to her dad, but looks similar to her mother.

I felt that I need not worry about her getting heavy. That assumption was correct; she’s 65 and still fits into her 44 yr old wedding dress.

Household chores are done by the person who is annoyed most by them not being done. Agreement means nothing. The standard of clean, or picked up is different. Do dishes need to be done before you go to bed? Do they need to be done before you leave the dining room and retire to the living room? My wife would say yes to both. I could not figure it out. After thirty years I have agreed to put my dishes in the dishwasher instead of the counter. She has agreed to wash everything and make the kitchen clean. I normally do a search around the house for used dishes while she is doing the dishes. She does this, because a messy kitchen drives her nuts.

In turn, whenever I walk into a room, I shut every drawer and close every cabinet and door. I can’t figure why someone who needs her bed made every day and every dish cleaned as soon as its used, has a problem shutting cabinets and drawers. But that’s marriage. We do the chores that annoy us most.

My wife and I are happy with our arrangement.

It may sound rude and crude, but there is an element of truth in it. The divorce lawyer listed health as number 5. To be blunt, fat people have poor health, make less money, are inactive and don’t want to do things. That makes for a boring marriage. Don’t marry a future couch potato whose major activity is going to Walmart in her lime green, polyester pants that cling to the ripples of her cellulite, grossing out the world and embarrassing your children.

“A one sided contract where in almost all cases the financial burden is all on you.”

You can compensate for some of those archaic anti-men laws with a prenup. Though it takes some of the romanticism out of the relationship.

“Don’t do it guys. Vagina isn’t worth it.”

If pussy is all you want out of a relationship, I agree. No need to buy the cow if the milk is free.

“Ask a few guys who have been married and divorced for an honest opinion.”

I bet those guys didn’t ask those questions.

You sound like you’re one of those. Am I correct? 😉

As one gets older, metabolism slows down and that is what makes you fat. The trick to staying in shape in old age is to keep your metabolism rate higher. Only 1 way you can do that. Regular exercise. I was overweight from my 30’s into my late 50’s. Then I made a lifestyle change and took up regular exercise. Now at age 82 I still have the same size suit as at age 25. There are multitude of side benefits to regular exercise after Medicare age. Such as better resistance to respiratory diseases, much better balance which avoids falls, better bone density, and lots of energy. I rarely see anyone over age 70 in the gym.
