Prime Minister Jacinda Arden confirmed at a press conference on Tuesday that her government will push ahead with a proposal to make farmers pay for their livestock’s emissions in a bid to combat climate change.
“This is an important step forward in New Zealand’s transition to a low emissions future and delivers on our promise to price agriculture emissions from 2025,”
“No other country in the world has yet developed a system for pricing and reducing agricultural emissions, so our farmers are set to benefit from being first movers,”
Andrew Hoggard, president of the rural advocacy agency Federated Farmers, said in a statement that the government’s plan will “rip the guts out of small town New Zealand.”
“We didn’t sign up for this. It’s gut-wrenching to think we now have this proposal from government which rips the heart out of the work we did. Out of the families who farm this land,” he said. “Our plan was to keep farmers farming. Now they’ll be selling up so fast you won’t even hear the dogs barking on the back of the ute as they drive off.”

New Zealand is one of the most beautiful places on the planet and its government is hard at work trying to make it a hell hole.
When one can explain why ice ages begin and end I will be willing to debate global warming. It is actually due to orbital mechanics. Oddly the natural state of planet earth is ice age over the most recent millions of years. Currently we enjoy the warmth which if brief.

CO2 is plant food. When great creatures roamed the earth in the past it was a function of CO2. It was much higher and thus plants flourished. Herbivores flourished as did the carnivores that ate them.

I would suggest to the New Zealand politicians who are in favor of this idiocy calculate their own emissions before blaming poor, dumb cows who just want to eat and roam around.

They are all so smart and they all agree with each other. The methane that they worry about is a product of cow digestion. Cows eat grass and grain and 70 percent of it passes through them as undigestable fiber, cellulose. Part of the digestion is done by microbes in the gut of the bovine. That is where methane is produced.
I always wonder why they omit the important fact that plants which are food that cows eat are made from carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Most of what a cow eats was air a year ago. Carbon dioxide from air made into plants and part of the plants gets out into the atmosphere as methane. Since most people are stupid they won’t know where plants come from.
The whole thing is because liberals want people not to eat meat. It’s violence or cruelty as far as they are concerned so they want to limit it to only themselves so as to minimize the harm done to animals. Rest assured that Gavin Newsom eats steak every night that he is not eating pork or fish.
The citizens need to tax the politicians.
We really need to tax the damn politicians for all their farts and burps.
