There was no reason for this. The parents are totally responsible.

Had to be the owners. Couldn’t be the dogs. Everyone knows pit bulls only kill and maim people because they have bad owners same as all the collies and golden retrievers who are always maiming and killing people have bad owners

Poorly trained. The two year old was most likely not supervised and was taunting or terrorizing the dogs

I understand you love your dog, and my parents owned a pitbull who was also half lab, in my early 20s. Sweetest dog in the world, but I would never allow her near my child when he was born or after. I told my parents lock her up or we don’t come over.

They’ve been know to maul newborns just sleeping or laying on beds or swings. There’s not more to the story. They can be triggered anytime, and they were bred for fighting, or killing wildlife like deer, bear, or lions.

Wrong.
Upper middle class folks, nice home, etc.
Called their pits little lions.
Little girl was playing with a ball.
She was killed, then the baby was dragged off by the head while the mom was mauled by the other.

It’s that graphic enough for you?
Got enough info to determine the breed of peace is innocent and it’s the owner’s fault?

The more to this story is a dog bred for savagery is allowed to be owned without any oversight.

Pit bull owners should face jail time and huge financial fines for the losses others have to endure because of the crap breed.

Oh, you’re little baby didums won’t hurt a flea.
But they will go bat crazy at other dogs, little kid, people walking by innocently, etc.

I don’t give a rats ass about your pet owning experience when others including myself have thousands of encounters saying otherwise. Others have had to drag a pit or a pit mix and put rounds into their skulls after they went crazy for no damn reason.

If you precious pooch is so sweet, then you should have zero problems with heavy fines and regulations for dangerous breeds.

Sorry. Bad breed with mainly bad owners. Not you but a lot.

Just the sort of raging ranting I expected.
Reality is that in any population of millions there will always be a few bad examples.
Dogs to priest, all the same if you look long and hard enough.
I’ve seen a house cat go nuts and try to tear a person apart for no fathomable reason.
You sound like a gun banner, someone/thing did something wrong, so punish everyone who did not.
I still expect that there is more to be known.
And PB’s are the most populous breed in the US.

Actually, they have.
And I’ve had far more trouble with the few Poodles I have met than the many PB’s.
“Standard” poodle is not a small dog either.

Not at all. The American Stratford terrier is a great dog when we’ll trained. Two year olds pull tails and ears and get in dogs faces. That’s never a good thing

There is an old saying that nothing is more vicious than unsupervised children.
We once rescued a German Shepherd who had been tormented by having firecrackers tied to its tail and lit.
Kid doing it was five years old!

The broad brush so common here is one reason I have taken more than one self imposed time out.

Pit bulls are “friendly” until they aren’t. I was once bitten by a German shepherd while I was walking down the sidewalk. The dog bit me in the calf from behind. But he bit and let go. Pit bulls clamp on and stay.

A few decades ago, an upper middle class couple I knew, got a pit bull pup. It was their baby. Lovingly raised it. Then turned on the wife when she was sitting on the couch with it. Her husband had to shoot it because he couldn’t get the dog off of her. They could never figure out what set the dog off.

A couple of years ago I met a woman who was still quite heavily bandaged. She was going to her car in a parking lot when a pit bull sprang out of the car adjacent to hers and attacked her. The pit bull’s owner said her dog had never attacked anyone before.

I saw a news story years, ago, when a babysitter was watching a four year old girl at her home, and the pit went nuts and attacked the child. She started biting on the pit’s ear as hard as she could, and the pit let go.

Another story was a woman defended her dog by stabbing the pit with a filet knife while walking her dog, because pits were always loose in the area.

"They can be triggered anytime, and they were bred for fighting, or killing wildlife like deer, bear, or lions."

I've had a number of people tell me that they've been very happy with their pitbulls and that they're sweet. I've never spent time with one, but I wouldn't want a dog that combines those jaw muscles with an unpredictable temperament. It just isn't worth the risk when there are so many other doggos in the world.

Sad story. "Ax Man" should change his name to "Ass Man".

One of his Rottweilers had already been put down for attacking a person. Yet he still kept Rottweilers. Finally they killed his 4 year old girl.

What is wrong in the head with people who keep vicious dogs? It's often an inferiority complex—someone wants to be a "badass".

The time I spent with, Mimi, (that was the pitt’s name) was to play or exercise with me for house, because she needed t. She was 99 pounds. Never hurt the cats or my dog. But trust her around an infant or small child? Never. It’s not really the dog’s fault. It’s the people who bred them to be vicious.

Lion tamer complex. Loving the unlovable. (not all, not all, but most) Discovery Channel used to have a series on people who had crocodiles, poisonous and deadly snakes, or other wild animals for pets. One guy was stomped to death by hos pet stag, a deer.
