"It is unbelievable to be hearing on one side that they will use nuclear weapons if they have to, while the other side says, "You can't frighten us."

European leaders must now approach discussions with Russia without the US or Chinese involvement. There are too many undercurrents between the major powers to reach an achievable deescalation. Any discussions should be televised live for the world to hear and see the what has driven us to the brink of nuclear war. Host them in Italy, Germany or Hungary on neutral ground. Sunlight is a great disinfectant.

It’s actually a good thing to have some sissies around when we’re talking about “nucular (sic) war”.

America to the southern border and out of Eastern Europe. Not our dog and pony show.

NATO and the US are the ones telling Zelensky not to sign a peace treaty and are offering him expensive trinkets to continue the war. This could have been concluded in March, with the exact same annexing of Eastern Ukraine.

The Great Reset requires nuclear war.

FTA: “Russia feels that this war is at the core of its security interests. The United States insists it will do anything to support Ukraine’s defeat of Russia.”

This war is about acquisition; Ukraine posed no threat to Russia. And the US “...insists it will do anything to support Ukraine’s defeat of Russia” is just alarmist hyperbole. We don’t want Ukraine to DEFEAT Russia, we want Ukraine to expel Russian invaders from Ukraine; do that, and Russia goes on just as it had before it invaded; a little embarrassed, perhaps; and minus some men and materiel; but not much more. That is hardly DEFEATING Russia.

Russia feels that this war is at the core of its security interests.

No, it really doesn't. The average Russian was not feeling threatened by Ukraine before this war. The bogus security concerns concocted by Putin were just a cover for his ambition to reconstitute the geographic boundaries of the Soviet union.

And that's not because Russia needed those larger boundaries because it was otherwise "threatened". Putin wanted those boundaries purely to advance his own sense of Russia's greatness and destiny.

It's about ego, not security.

"It is unbelievable to be hearing on one side that they will use nuclear weapons if they have to, while the other side says, "You can't frighten us."

If Russians withdraw from Ukraine, Russia will still exist. No one is threatening the existence of Russia. Does that mean whenever a nuclear nation threatens the US, we must immediately comply to their demands? China? North Korea?

US President Donald Trump has boasted that his nuclear button is "much bigger" and "more powerful" than North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's.

“This is a path of dangerous escalation”

No shirt, Shylock.

There are any number of factions that WANT escalation, pretending it is “brinksmanship”. On the best day ever, confrontation and challenge are fraught with risk the other guy is willing to bluff and bluster through ANYTHING.

Strategy and tactics for how to deal with an enemy force are best summed up in the Sun Tzu “Rules of War”.

“ The United States insists it will do anything to support Ukraine’s defeat of Russia.”

No. That’s stated incorrectly, and dangerously.

Ukraine has never even dreamt about “defeating Russia”

The want to DEFEND themselves against an invasion. Very, very different.

“This conflict goes back a long time, it didn’t start on February 24, 2022. In fact, the war itself started in 2014...”

Yeah, it started in 2014 when Russia invaded without provocation the first time, LOL.

The Right Honourable Neville Chamberlain is but one example or many from world history proving that there are times when peace is the more dangerous option, and peace is more than merely the absence of war.
