There are ‘End Tidal CO2 detectors. I do not know if they sell them for the public at reasonable prices but such things do exist. It is usually a sort of cable with a sensor that attaches to an O2 mask. The person exhales and the CO2 blows by and is measured onto a digital display. I am not certain if even the hospital ones are really accurate.

If the number is zero, person is probably dead. Higher numbers are very dangerous. The CO2 in the blood will be different than the end tidal numbers. With a bit of help, understanding the graphs are not challenging. There are tons of little quick books, I carry one for 20 years or so called ‘PDQ’ which provides lots of helpful info on just about everything. It is good for those senior moments when you cannot think of a word.

The article states that the General “published a tribute”. I took that to mean it was an essay rather than a video, but such a narrow interpretation of “publish” could be very wrong.
You know everything I know. I clicked on CTC’s link and read the article I posted. I know there are posters here who are in great pain because of the way their families have treated them. I was thinking of those people when I read the article and decided to post it in its entirety for them/us. Their losses are unimaginable and the article provides only a small amount of salve to such wounds.

GHWB was known to have mostly flown the Avenger, 'tis true, but every pilot would have experience in at least a small number of different planes. He might have simply horned in on some unknown crew's pranked photo opportunity, even if he'd never flown that type of plane.
I have to believe there was a risk of punishment for participants willfully damaging a good propeller, if it had been found out. Being front and center amidst the evidence pretty well puts a person in line for such punishment, unless a person believed himself to be in a protected class, as GHWB likely would have.
