Even though the hurricane is centered on Florida, there’s one phone call the American president refuses to make.
Hurricane Ian is shaping up to be a big deal. It’s currently a Category 3 hurricane (sustained winds maxing out at 125 MPH and lots of moisture), growing stronger by the minute. It’s expected to land in Florida late Wednesday or early Thursday as a Category 2 or 3 storm. The possibility of severe damage to life and property is currently very high. At times like this, state governors matter because they’re responsible for mobilizing emergency services to protect their state. When presidents are normal, they reach out to the affected governors to offer aid and make plans. So far, though, Biden will not talk to Governor Ron DeSantis.
The Daily Wire reports:
President Joe Biden (D) has spoken on the phone with numerous Florida mayors ahead of Hurricane Ian’s anticipated landfall this week, but he has not called Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), one of his top political opponents.
Biden held separate calls Tuesday with Mayor Jane Castor of Tampa, Mayor Ken Welch of St. Petersburg, and Mayor Frank Hibbard of Clearwater to discuss preparations for the potential impacts from Hurricane Ian, the White House said in a statement.
The president spoke about response efforts at the federal, state, and local levels that officials are taking to be ready for if and when the hurricane hits the state.
What was notable about the statement from the administration was that it made no mention of Biden reaching out to DeSantis. Biden’s apparent refusal to talk to DeSantis comes after he pledged “unity” and promised to be “a President for all Americans.”
In addition to both Castor and Welch being Democrats, mayors are, as a general matter, safe.

Exactly what I was thinking! If he did speak with DeSantis is would probably be very short with few words. Biden IS petty as most liberals are.
Florida can take care of themselves without the District of Corruption.
I’m sure Plugs would have talked to Gillum had he won and Florida would be so much better off now. This is as good as it gets Florida, don’t count on FedGov and be thankful that DeSantis can run the show without it if he has to.
There are probably going to be $20 billion+ in federal flood insurance claims.
Punta Gorda and much of Cape Coral are going to be flooded out.
Not sure wat you are seeing. Everything I see shows cat 3 and most models show landfall at 2 or 3. NOTE: a category 1 hurricane is very dangerous take all levels serious.
Yeah. I am in the middle of state. By the time it gets here it will be cat 1 or tropical storm but will still blow stuff around. Pray and hunker down.

So apparently, unlike with Hurricane Katrina, a Democrat President bares zero responsibility for Hurricane response, and everything falls to the Republican Governor.

Biden is President but lacking all executive experience and ability, he is certainly not a leader.
All he has done results from following the demands of the left wing cliques that got him elected
The MSM is looking for any reason to blame DeSantis for the response to this disaster.
So he spoke with 3 mayors where the storm isn’t landing..
