(I'm just the poster, not the tester)

A YouTuber with 1.4 million followers attempted to tow a 1930 Ford Model A truck with his brand new 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck, but it ended in “a complete and total disaster.” “If a truck towing 3,500 pounds can’t even go 100 miles — that is ridiculously stupid,” Tyler “Hoovie” Hoover says in his video. “This truck can’t do normal truck things. You would be stopping every hour to recharge, which would take about 45 minutes a pop, and that is absolutely not practical.”

“This is my new 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck,” YouTuber Tyler “Hoovie” Hoover said in a video in which he tests the electric truck’s towing capabilities, which resulted in “a complete and total disaster.”

Correctamundo.

The Leftists in charge don’t expect EVs to perform the tasks of ICE vehicles.

You’ll have nothing and like it.

oh they have thought it through

they know they cannot supply enough electricity for EVs in the same number as gas cars currently on the road

even with conventional fuels

and definitely not with “green energy”

that is the plan

so you would only be able to drive within half the charging range(you have to get back home)

normal range is 300 miles? so your travel range is 150

sounds like control to me

Yea, my in-laws have an RV and a permanent spot on a campground on a lake (maybe 50-60 spots) and it’s loaded with EV carts.

Does your gas vehicle get infinite range? Mine doesn’t. Both need to be refueled. Gas is more convenient, but electricity is much harder for the gov’t to control.

> A cheap EV vehicle for in town errands, practical.

I don’t think they’re cheap.

You really want a separate car for that?

And that is the winning combination. Diesel over electric and no batteries required.

it looks like a truck, it smells like a truck, it weighs like a truck, but it can’t do what a truck does, which pretty much means it’s NOT a truck!

“He should try towing his Ford Lightning with his Model A to see how far it will tow it. “

i was thinking the exact same thing ...

“but electricity is much harder for the gov’t to control.”

> Does your gas vehicle get infinite range?

Yes. Goes about 50,000 miles between breakdowns. Oil change 15 minutes every 5,000. Gas fillup 15 minutes every 400 miles.

> I think the future of electric vehicles is going to be hybrid.

That is how the current wave really got going (past).

So what happened?

Also curious if anyone has the MPG boost provided by using motor-generators in braking. Would guess it’s very small and more a notional thing than practical.

You don’t think that is the case? How many people do you know with a generator or solar panels? I know many.

How many do you know with their own oil refinery?

“As long as you have a charge, pulling power is not an issue. Electric motors have amazing torque.”

range is the issue though ... you can have all the pulling power in the world, but if you have to stop for an hour every 50 miles while driving in the rocky mountains when it’s -23 degrees out, then that’s a total non-starter, esp. for a $70,000 vehicle ...

” It is why diesel locomotives use the diesels to run electric motors instead of the diesel powering the locomotive directly.”

OTOH, diesel-electric locomotives have 4,000 gallon fuel tanks and are filled approximately twice a week ...
