Send in the clowns...
Remember President Gerald R. Ford, and his hapless "Whip Inflation Now" campaign?
Ford advocated buying cheaper stuff and consuming less in his ill-fated 1974 WIN campaign. According to Wikipedia:
Suggested actions for citizens included carpooling, turning down thermostats, and starting their own vegetable gardens.
"WIN" buttons immediately became objects of ridicule; skeptics wore the buttons upside down, explaining that "NIM" stood for "No Immediate Miracles," "Nonstop Inflation Merry-go-round," or "Need Immediate Money."
Now inflation is back, brought on by monster government spending, and Democrats have cooked up far more dimwitted inflation"cures" than the hapless Jerry Ford.
Start with what they have already legislated and signed into law -- the mis-named "Inflation Reduction Act" of 2022.
This so-called inflation cure is nothing but a slush fund where they raise taxes, hand out mass subsidies to their political contributors. The only potential to reduce one component of inflation is down the road on prescription drug prices which haven't been rising very fast compared to other necessities like food, gas, utilities, and housing.
In any case, most of the inflation-hit poor already get their drugs for free so it doesn't help them, either now or in the future. Historic experience shows that slapping price controls on those drugs, or any consumer product, is far more likely to produce shortages, which won't help the poor at all.
The poor also don’t have enough money to buy electric cars or solar panels, which the slush fund dangles out so that greenie political cronies can be rewarded with contracts, no matter what the subsidy is.
Now, television talking head Chuck Todd is supporting the non-enforcement of immigration laws and pretending that more illegal immigrants will solve inflation.

If these democRATs did not have stupid ideas they would have no ideas at all. If they just did the opposite of what they think they would be right most of the time.
DEMONocRATS have no interest in whipping inflation. They only pretend.
DEMONocRATS are interested in one thing: bring down America. Inflation will help.
I guess the slogan “Build Back Better” is dead, now.
They have no intention of whipping inflation. Inflation gives them many advantages: It penalizes people who have worked all their lives and saved up something so they wouldn’t become dependent. Their savings are reduced to zero.
Inflation doesn’t bother the ruling elite because they have already guaranteed that their salaries and pensions are adjusted for rising prices.
The “poor” don’t care - their benefits are inflation adjusted.
If the devaluation of the currency causes widespread economic disaster, they are happy. If it leads to total breakdown they are ecstatic because that will enable them to seize total power under the guise of “protecting” the people.
“Democrats have some weird ideas about how to whip inflation now”
They don’t know how to solve problems .... just create them.
Inflation is taxation without legislation.

Stop Australia Going Under
Reprinted from political ad in the Western Australian Sunday Times, December 3, 1995
In 1944, Democratic U.S. Congressman Samuel Pettengill warned America that socialists would endeavor to have the U.S. spend itself into bankruptcy, with a view to making citizens totally dependent on a centralized government.
Pettengill detailed TEN POINTS of the socialist manifesto that would destroy free government. Almost 50 years later, down under in Australia, it is disturbing to reflect on Pettengill 10 points.
1) People must be made to feel their utter helplessness and their inability to solve their own problems. While in this state of mind, there is held up before them a benign and all-wise leader to whom they MUST look to the cure for all their ills.
2) The principle of local self-government must be WIPED OUT, so that this leader or group in control can have all the political power readily at hand.
3) Constitutional guarantees must be swept aside. This accomplished in part by RIDICULING them as outmoded and an obstruction to progress.
4) Public faith in the legal profession and respect for the courts must be undermined. The law making body must be intimidated and from time to time rebuked, so as to prevent the development of public confidence in it.
5) Economically, the people must be ground down by high taxes, which under one pretext or another they are called upon to pay. Thus they are brought to a common level and all income above a meager living is taken from them. In this manner, economic independence is kept to a minimum. Public may not begin to rely on its own resources.
8) Government bureaus are set up to control practically every phase of the citizen’s lives.
9) The education of the youth of the nation is taken under CONTROL so that all may be indoctrinated at an early age with a spirit of submission to the system.
10) To supplement and fortify all the foregoing, there is kept up a steady stream of GOVERNMENT PROPAGANDA designed to extol all who bow the knee and to vilify those who dare raise a voice of dissent.
6) A great public debt must be built so the citizens can never escape its burden, making government the virtual receiver for the entire nation.
7) A general distrust of private business and industry must be kept alive so the

You folks are missing something. They’re always ‘doing something’ about it, whatever the problem. It’s bs but it pushes the issue away for now to be soon forgotten.
A man asks a question about a serious nuclear threat-”As a result of our serious negations there are no nuclear missiles pointed at America’s children”. The answer was directed at women not the questioner. The ignored response-it could change back in 15 minutes.(BJ/Dole debate 1996)
They’re smarter than us.
V. I. Lenin
I have a vivid memory of listening, at the bright young age of 14, to Gerald Ford’s speech in which he introduced the “Whip Inflation Now” campaign and the W.I.N. button. Even at that age, I knew it was entirely idiotic.
Let me see if I can guess without reading the article.
Give D’s more money and power. That will Whip inflation now.
Give them even more and it will solve global warming.
Give them even more and healthcare will be perfect.
It solves every problem.
“They don’t know how to solve problems .... just create them.”
In all fairness, they know how to pretend to solve problems they created. So there’s that.
