My cat Ivan visits his preferred neighbors and rings their doorbells. We have a cat door insert in our living room window so he comes and goes as he pleases. He also has good judgement on people he frequents.

There’s something about grey cats. They seem to be a little bit smarter than your average cat.

I had a cat named Vinny. Orange and white. He used to sleep with me so one night when I was shutting off the light which was a wall switch just behind the headboard he watched me. I thought it was cute so I positioned him to stand up on the bed, paw on the light switch, and I moved his paw up and down. Turning the light on and off, on and off. I thought it was funny because he let me do it and seemed interested, noticing he was turning the light on and off.
3 am. Light comes on. I see Vinny standing on side of bed, on paw on headboard, other paw on light switch, looking at me.
Then he lets himself down on the bed where I, groggy eyed, see him put his little face right to mine, meows loudly, jumps off bed, looks back at me, meows again, heads to kitchen meowing all the way...
Wants to eat. Starts doing this every night about 3 am or so.
It got to be not so funny.
SO basically the cat tried to go back to its old home, but 2 days halfway there it said *(&@ this, it’s way to far and I’m hungry and turned around

Very upsetting... It means that I've been paying the cell phone bill for nothing...

My last cat had learned to turn a door knob to let himself out at about a year old.
Friends who saw it would be shocked and say what a smart cat he was, I’d reply that if he was so smart then why doesn’t he close the door after himself /-).
