Utah governor slams Oregon fans for bigoted chant against Mormons at BYU game

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox ripped rowdy irreverent fans who chanted “-—- the Mormons” during a football match between Oregon and BYU Saturday.

“Religious bigotry alive and celebrated in Oregon,” the Republican governor tweeted in response to a video of the hateful chant at the University of Oregon home game.

Oregon Ducks fans can be heard repeating the line at least twice before the ugly chant trails off in one video. The school and its student section both apologized Sunday for the “offensive and disgraceful” chant in a series of tweets.

Well "F... the Mormons" isn't very original. When I grew up (back in the 1980's) something like that would have been rather mild. Insulting chants against the other team was integral part of the sport, and we spent lots of time coming up with truly cruel ones. In fact, the principal at one of our rival schools got arrested for diddling boys, made all the local news channels. Well, the very next game we had a rather nasty chant about "Dwayne (the principals name) making all that teams tight ends into wide receivers."

Yeah, we went there, and the funny thing is nobody cared, in fact we actually had parents laughing and joining in.

No, I am not Mormon, I just dislike religious bigotry.
I realize there are religions, probably including mine that some (or many) do not like. Some to the point of hating all who follow that religion and I really find that abhorrent.
But you just go ahead, I am sure you really deep in your heard thing any religion that disagrees with your is bad or even evil

Utah had a Mormon Republican senator who was a cousin of all the Mormon Democrat Udalls who are elected in other states (also a cousin of Mike Lee of Utah). But a lot has changed in the state in recent years. “Republican” is a dirty word there now.

I don’t know, but it’s a fun movie. They’ll wreck it, I’m sure. I see they’re re-booting ‘Quantum Leap’ with an Asian guy in the lead and a female as his sidekick/protector. *Rolleyes*
