German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht said on Monday she believed Germany was obliged to play a leading global role, including in the military sphere, and that the country should not be afraid of the responsibilty.

Lambrecht confirmed that Europe’s security was still guaranteed by its most important ally, the US.

“But this ally has been forced to shift its main focus of attention to security in the Pacific region,” she said.

This meant that Europe, and above all Germany, had to play a more important role, she said,

“Germany is ready to take the burden off America in Europe and thus make a decisive contribution to sharing the load fairly,” Lambrecht said. …

Heard this before. The last thing they want to do is help the US. Boosting their military means an easier time of imposing their agenda on the continent.

I seem to remember the entire last decade, where the Bundeswehr logistics system was unable to keep spare parts on hand, and only around half of the helicopters were operational at any given time. Same story for tanks, and fighters.

They may give glorious speeches about what they might do, but every step of the past couple of decades has been to weaken the Bundeswehr to the point that they aren’t a threat to anyone.

Doing this towards Russia will lead to canned sunshine all over Europe.

They should have been doing this 30 years ago. Its long past time that Europeans started adequately providing for their own defense instead of relying on Uncle Sugar to do it for them.

No. They never had any intention of “doing this” and have none now; arming up is all about power and aggression.

It’s the left in this country that were bleeding us dry so that our enemies get empowered.

They did this 70 years ago.
Didn’t work out too well, that time.

Once all the Germans were warlike and mean,
But that couldn't happen again.
We taught them a lesson in 1918,
And they haven't bothered us since then.

Should we still hold the Mongols accountable for sacking cities and creating ‘pyramids of skulls’.

Absolutely.

When you find Kubla Khan's most recent descendant, walk right up to him and kick him in the crotch. :p

Russia is learning that in order to take over Europe, they need to take of the US first.
