Portland residents fear being assaulted or encountering people experiencing a mental health crisis while walking around town, according to a recent survey, but those Fox News spoke with had mixed opinions about safety in the city.
“I walk around all the time and during the day I feel fine,” said Amber, who recently moved to Portland from California. “I still keep my wits about me and I’m cautious, but I don’t feel like I’m really in any danger.”
But Brenda disagreed.
“I’m worried about being physically attacked,” she told Fox News. “It’s not safe. It’s just flat not safe.”
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler commissioned the survey from local firm DHM Research. Nearly half (48%) of the 500 Portlanders who responded felt unsafe walking alone at night in their own neighborhood. Of those who felt unsafe, 78% told researchers they were afraid of being physically assaulted. […]
There were 5,960 reported crimes in July, the most recent month for which police statistics are available. That’s up slightly from 5,618 the same month last year. Theft, vandalism and assault were the most common offenses reported. …

Isn’t Portland filled with Democrats? Isn’t being a Democrat a mental disease?
As my 77 year old sister says (who lives in SE Portland) “Oh it’s nothing. We hear gun fire most nights....”
Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying have taken action and evacuated Portland to move somewhere in the San Juan Islands of Wa. State in the last few weeks.

Oh, I rememeber that couple. They are married teachers.
They used to work at the same college until Brett made a few un-PC remarks in one of his classes. Many “Woke” students wanted him gone. Some of the instructors as well.
I don’t recall if he quit or was fired, but neither Brett or Heather are at that school now.
This was about four years back, I believe.
Somewhere in Portland there is a single solitary republican, somewhere, anywhere, causing all these problems.
Oregon is shall issue for concealed carry. There is no reason at all to fear being assaulted.
Correct.
Liberal Profs of Evolution at Evergreen College/Uni.
Driven from the community for un-PC thoughts.
Decided to move to Portland and become YouTubers of a Scientific Kind to support themselves.
Vax deniers after a while which then drove them from the leftist Big Media.
I don’t know the details, but it sounds like they couldn’t take the societal decay in Portland and have moved to a more rural and defensible geographic location.
A couple of more years and they are likely to become MAGA.
Actually it's two of them. They run around at night in MAGA hats trying to hang people. They relocated to Portland after relocating from Chicago because the cops were looking for them after they tried to hang Jussie Smoylett.
One of my college econ professors was a local party chair. Was introduced to Bastiat via Hazlitt by that guy.
Multnomah County is not the least bit gun-friendly.

I knew it was going to be Alex Stein. He’s great!
Fruits of the Democrat party.
They’ll still vote Democrat.
Several years ago, I added an Oregon concealed pistol license to my Washington State concealed pistol license. I wouldn’t visit Portland without one.
Whenever I drive into California and have to lock up my carry pistol in a CA DOJ approved steel lock box, I feel very vulnerable.
Hopefully, national carry will become a thing or that getting a California CPL will no longer be quite so impossible.
Wheeler is still in charge? Sheesh!
