Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott had trash thrown at him and was booed by some fans at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, as he left the field with an injury Sunday night.
Prescott left the game amid a flurry of boos during the game's 4th quarter due to a thumb injury, which will likely sideline him for at least six weeks, according to ESPN.
Some fans at the game who were upset with the quarterback expressed their frustration by pelting him with trash.
Earlier this year, fans at the stadium threw trash at referees and players at the end of the Cowboys' first-round loss in the playoffs last season. Prescott praised the fans in January for throwing debris at the refs, saying "credit to them" in a press conference following the playoff loss last season.
The thumb injury means Prescott will likely miss at least one game for the third season in a row. In 2020, Prescott suffered an injury to his right ankle in week 5 against the New York Giants that forced him to sit out the rest of the season, and in 2021, he suffered a calf strain that caused him to miss a week 7 game against the Minnesota Vikings.
"It's very disappointing, but injuries happen, can't necessarily control it, just unfortunate," Prescott said in a press conference after the game. "Obviously going to miss some time, not be there for my team, and that's what hurts more than anything, especially after the start we just put out there. Wanted to be able to respond, and not necessarily having that opportunity for several weeks, yeah, it's unfortunate."
The Cowboys lost the game to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 19-3, with Prescott finishing the game with 14 pass completions for 134 yards, one interception, and no touchdowns. With the loss, the Cowboys remain winless against Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady.
That’s messed up.
NFL Ping!...........
Great, get Colin Kaepernick in there STAT to straighten things out. Pass the popcorn.
Quarterbacks get hurt more often when their offensive line sucks Donkey Kong
LOL!
LOL!
No line, few good receivers and overpaid running back.
This is Jerry’s team, alright.
It was embarrassing to watch..........................😢
Dallas sucks. Jerry Jones sucks even worse.
We'll know their bad if the Giants beat them.
I think it’s terrible to do this, besides which they may regret not having a good quarterback someday. Prescott didn’t play great game but it wasn’t all on him the coaching and the offensive line had a lot to do with it.
It’s not really Dak’s fault that he is massively overpaid.
In Texas, football is a religion.....................😜
Receivers couldn’t catch....................
Giants beat the Titans, who some had winning the AFC this year.
Two paper cups??? Is that the best they can do?
Sounds like a typical Dan Mullen-coached quarterback.
