The World Wants No Part of Woke, But It’s Glad We Do
American Thinker ^ | 7 Sep, 2022 | Victor Davis Hanson

Posted on 09/08/2022 4:53:27 AM PDT by MtnClimber

China can likely sink any $12 billion American aircraft carrier and its 5,000 diverse “they/them” crew that dares to venture into the Taiwan strait.

The United States obsesses over whether biological men can compete in women’s sports as transgendered males.

Crime is spiking at levels not seen in 40 years. But it is considered racist to suggest that arrests, indictments, convictions, and incarcerations deter crime.

Major U.S. downtowns almost overnight went from mostly safe and clean to terrifying and toxic—and we brag that we are at least “tolerant” of the medieval conditions.

The Pentagon and CIA put out recruitment videos that sound like kindergarten diversity, equity, and inclusion programming.

Yet the military is less eager to explain why the United States met utter humiliation in Afghanistan or why the army only has met about 50 percent of its scheduled recruitment targets.

Few dare to attribute declining morale, inept strategic thinking, and anemic recruitment to the stereotyping and targeting of middle-class white males, Soviet-style workshops, and diversity, equity, and inclusion mind conditioning.

The Biden Administration in its first 18 months warred on the U.S. oil and gas industry. Radical cutbacks in fossil fuels supposedly would “transition” the world to a greener future.

Biden expressed little worry about the resulting economic damage to the middle class or the lack of commensurate efforts in India and China to curb emissions.

During COVID American popular culture has collectively demonized any who were lax on masking and social distancing as “super spreaders.”

Federal employees and military personnel who skipped the new mRNA COVID-19 inoculations on grounds the shots were not fully vetted, were stereotyped as red-state conspiracist super-spreaders. They were accused of endangering all Americans by their supposedly selfish behavior.

"Disagree."

With what do you disagree? That the left is insane?

Disagree

Your comment -- pardon me -- your word is just a bit too profound and complex for serious consideration this early in the morning. Cheers!

This just has to be a mass psychosis taking place in our country.

Legalizing “gay marriage” was the end of rational thought as the driving force for public discourse in America. Sure other decisions were worse /evil but gay marriage was pure nonsensical fantasy that was forced upon everyone.

Sinking a modern US aircraft carrier is not an easy thing to do.

Sinking a modern US aircraft carrier is not an easy thing to do.

Depends.

VDH is correct in his article, you need to read at least the full sentence, which is:

China can likely sink any $12 billion American aircraft carrier and its 5,000 diverse “they/them” crew that dares to venture into the Taiwan strait.

That is pretty much certain, the only variable is the consequences for such an action.

A modern US aircraft carrier is designed to with stand a hit just about any conventional ordinance. Even multiple hits. The carrier is surrounded by other very capable surface ships and a nuclear submarine. So taking it out will not be a easy task. Can it be done? Of course, but the price to do so will be high.

One other thing, lots more than 5,000 crew would be lost. China would need to take out almost the entire battle group, just to get to the carrier.

VDH says it all..Says what is on my mind. Says what is common sense. In 2008 I spoke with a military guy who basically laughed when I said that enemy missiles could sink our aircraft carriers cheaply. At a low cost ratio. Same as cheap RPGs could take out our expensive tanks. In the Ukraine war tanks are taken out by more sophisticated anti-tank missiles. And from a greater, safer distance.

Ping! Out to the Victor Davis Hanson list

The Biden Administration in its first 18 months warred on the U.S. oil and gas industry. Radical cutbacks in fossil fuels supposedly would “transition” the world to a greener future.

Biden expressed little worry about the resulting economic damage to the middle class or the lack of commensurate efforts in India and China to curb emissions ...

And the money quote:

China can likely sink any $12 billion American aircraft carrier and its 5,000 diverse “they/them” crew that dares to venture into the Taiwan strait.

Is VDH correct, or just conflating ability and desire? Of Biden and / or China?

Naval doctrine would never allow a CVN to operate in that tight of a spot.

No one said it was easy. VDH said the Chinese could probably do it though and I tend to agree. From what I've read, they've been practicing.

A modern US aircraft carrier is designed to with stand a hit just about any conventional ordinance.

I'm sure the Communist Chinese would use only conventional ordinance and none of their late model weaponry.

Even multiple hits.

Assuming Communist China has less "conventional ordinance" available than the multiple hit design limit.

The carrier is surrounded by other very capable surface ships and a nuclear submarine.

Communist China has capable surface ships and submarines, particularly in the Taiwan Straight.

If Communist China decides to sink a US Aircraft Carrier and destroy the Entire Carrier Task Force in the Taiwan Straight, they will do it.
