EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.
From FaceBook:
Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more
Evening all
Strange day today.
Found a chap unconscious in a car on a junction. Traffic queued up behind ,no one bothered to find out why they weren’t moving . Pulled up alongside and got a twilight zone response, so called for an ambulance. The responding Copper asked why I was parked where I was, so quoted the driving code verbatim.
(Rules on the use of cell phones in cars)
“ you missed out this phrase here: “except in an emergency.”....just block the road and let them honk....”
The ambulance put an O2 feed on him and warp-sped him away. Plod recovered the car, which was nice of them . I got a free cup of tea....result!
You should eat when you need to. It’s not “porking,” and it’s not bad.
That’s a little odd, definitely. I hope the man will be okay.
He was only in his twenties,at a guess.
The speed the meat wagon took of at gives a bit of concern, but the copper said it was just a precaution.....yeah right, at that that speed.
Fingers crossed.
Nice car. 100k+ worth of Audi sports car.
Huh. Shows that you just never know.
Yes!! My hero!! They should have given you a LARGE cuppa!
I’m sure it wasn’t your first time of assessing an injured person. Poor guy might have been diabetic. Thank you, {{{Moosie}}}
Probably not diabetic, then — drug-induced coma is more like it. Or tachycardia from cocaine.
Thanks for helping him, anyway!
I don’t do it very often, but I was happy that I had them. I think I was right on the edge of a blood sugar episode, or I probably would have found something a little more substantial.
Anyway, after another visit from Mona, I just got a reminder that the federales are having an inspection next week, so I need to finish painting the door. Maybe tomorrow. Or Wednesday.
The matinee movie of Top Gun with my friend on Wednesday has been postponed. They were supposed to have siding put up on their home in December, but the company called today and said they could start it Wednesday. So they will.
Anyway, it’s time for me to call it quits for today. See you in the morning.
I hope you have a good night and get to see the movie soon!
YAY! Marmalade for breakfast!
Good morning. I hope you slept well!
FD woke me up with LOTS of photos of an elk herd, one of a gorgeous stag, and others of the herd. She forgets there’s an hour’s difference in the time, and thinks I’m back in Utah, where we’re in the same time zone. Poor kid.
I would have gotten almost 12 hours were it not for her wake up call!
It’s 46° outside!
Good morning. Could have been worse. Cats and too much lemonade. It’s 70 in the dining room right now.
I have Weight Watchers this morning, then a doctor appointment, and I’ll have to go to Walmart.
I get lemonade and the cats. With me, it’s the shift of gravity from sitting most of the day to lying down. Although last night, I was fairly lucky and only got up three times.
Today, my only pressing job is to put away the laundry that I did yesterday. I sometimes think I’m tired of it, but then I remember that I don’t beat my clothes up in the dryer.
After that, who knows? It’s only going to reach 85° today and will be in the 70s tomorrow, so maybe I should plan on a few walks in the coming days.
Good luck on the laundry. I beat mine up in the dryer!
I have one more exercise to do, and then I can take a shower. I have another physical therapy appointment tomorrow.
The washers and dryers increased 25¢ each in January, so it’s now costing $6 a week if I use the dryers, $3 if I don’t. It will go up again this year, so the only things I beat up in the dryers are the sheets and towels. Everything else gets hung up to dry.
Is the physical therapy helping, much? I hope so!
I can’t seem to get off this roller coaster!
But I’ll take it.

That’s one I haven’t heard before. But if it ends up in a free cup of tea then it’s alright.
Good morning. Happy Twosday.
All that wet stuff left it colder again. I guess it’s allowed since it’s now officially fall.
Not even October and the Halloween decorations are coming out. Go figure.
I’m a bit behind today. Maybe I’ll get the Wordle up later.
Hard to say. Sometimes I feel a lot better, sometimes I feel a little worse. Not a lot worse, though.
Good morning. I’ve seen some Hallowe’en decorations already, too. We might put our orange lights up, but not until the last week of October.
