EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.
From FaceBook:
Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more
It sounds okay, then.
When hometown teams stopped having farm teams, and started trading players like shuffling cards, I lost all interest in professional sports.
My last favorite player was Willie Stargill. He ducked away from a wild pitch, which was then called a strike after the ball struck his bat going by.
The look on his face was just — priceless.
Good morning. Happy Humph Day!
Is it only Humph Day? This week is taking forever.
Young ArGee’s old car is going to be repaired. She had one front tire damaged so, naturally, the insurance is going to cover replacing one tire. The shop wants to know if she wants the other front tire replaced. If my daughter were going to drive the car I’d say yes in a heartbeat. But she’s going to sell it so it’s a little tougher choice. I guess it depends on how much they want.
We got the cold promised last night. But a warming trend is coming. With rain, because weather.
Another 4 today.

It’s cold here today, too. I need to go put on more pairs of socks.
That kitteh made my day, thanks!
I hope you had a good night, with no cats or any other alarums or excursions.
Mine was interrupted again. Several times.
The Other Folks made it through Denver but they ended up in Phoenix on their way to LA. They were put on separate planes. They had to pay $18.50 each for two cardboard pizzas. They got stuck in traffic. Their luggage was still in Denver.
It was 2100 before I was able to give it up and go to bed.
Losing their luggage is exactly why I only have one small bag when I travel — it fits in the overhead so I know where it is at all times. I mentioned that to them when they went to Europe with three large bags, but they didn’t learn a lesson when they had to drag them from one end of the airport in Lisbon to the other.
Anyway, my dreams were good enough that I didn’t want to wake up. But here I am, starting my day late. Unngh.
Good job, ArGee!
Insurance companies are like meter maids. They eat their young. I hope you’re able to sell her car without too much difficulty and get a price that will help her.
We have weather coming here, too. The “Severe” kind. I’m all for heading back to Utah, since that kind of weather is all I’ve seen here.
I don’t have my phone with me at night, but I had a text from Elen this morning, which is her “this evening.” She’s been promoted to Sergeant (and didn’t want to sound too proud of herself ;-), and is going to Tinian, a ghastly coral atoll, later in the month.
They can be... especially if one does not have a rooting interest...
For some reason my father used to sing that song... a Ramblin’ Wreck from Georgia Tech... odd since he didn’t attend... just liked the song I guess...
No problemo... most of us get over these things pretty quickly!
The Bills look very good... they could go far... hopefully the G-Men go out quickly...
As far as the Jets post-Namath, I remember that they had a good defense for a period (sometime in the 1990s?) and they were known as the NY Sack Exchange...
Congratulations to Sgt. Elen, USMC!! And she should sound proud of herself! That’s no small feat. The military has lots of people who just plod along, happy where they are. It’s why they’re mostly called “grunts.”
Yes, Tinian is a ghastly coral atoll, but we won it fair and square. But she gets to see places where brave men and women died for the cause of freedom, and that alone would be worth going for me.
Happy Mid Week, Wordlers!
This is my 300th game. Whodathunk I’d be so addicted to something so simple?

Good luck!
(IF you want on or off the Wordle Ping list, please let me know.)
I used to really like the Pittsburgh Pirates as a kid... They were known for awhile as “The Lumber Company” back then... Stargell was a member, along with Clemente and Hebner and a couple of others... Manny Sanguillen was a member and my favorite catcher at the time (he had this really low, unorthodox stance behind the plate, one leg splayed out on the ground)...
Good Morning!
Nice job on the 3-spot, ‘Face!
Typical four train ride for me today...

Horrible weather and giant mosquitos, she says. She’ll probably find it’s haunted, too. Elen has an affinity for ghosts.
Thanks!
Yours looks like a sleigh today. Did you plan that? Good job, anyway!!
FD had an affinity for ghosts until she and her last hubby went with some ghost hunters. It’s not much fun when meeting up with a ghost that is vile. She’s glad to be out of it, now.
