EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.

Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. Good morning. Did you sleep well?
I was awakened by a text at 0100 (I had asked for it) that said “they” were in AR, and then again at 0415 to say he was home. I’m glad he’s back safely and that he had a relief driver. That was some trip!
So my night was broken up. At least now I know why Mondays are so hard for me! I can’t seem to get ahead of things here!
Carol called back around 1800 but never mentioned her cancer. I didn’t expect her to. She hadn’t gotten my card, yet, but I told her I was moving back. She just said, “I hope it’s soon!”
Then I told her about my back, and she asked what I took for it. She said morphine hadn’t been discussed but she was going to bring it up to see if it’s doable. I’m pretty sure, if she’s terminal, they’ll give her whatever she asks for.
Of course, I’m waiting for the water to heat up again. Today is Stake Conference so I’ll be watching it on Zoom. There was a session at 1800 last night but there was no way I was able to watch it. Not with Chatty Carol on the phone! And of course, Mona had been here when Carol called.
Mona was supposed to have gotten a package in the mail yesterday, but it didn’t come. I helped her put a trace on it, but just now, I wondered if the carrier might have stuffed it in her mail box.
Good morning. Not bad. Jake turned up for a while. I’m a bit stiffed up from the cemetery cleanup, but nothing actually hurts.
I’m glad you got to talk to Carol. I hope she doesn’t suffer too much during the time she has left!

So do I. I'm glad I mentioned morphine to her because if she can take it (some people can't) it might make her last days a little more pleasant. She sounded in good spirits, but I could tell she was tired.
She was always good to me, and she mentioned the PW, and how she was "difficult, if you know what I mean," and I said yes, but I was going to keep my own counsel on it because I don't want my son to be caught in the middle.
She respinded with, "We have all the answers, don't we?"
She could have replied, “All we can do is the best we can do.” It’s not like she can do anything about her stepdaughter now, if she ever could.
No, and I’ve heard both sides of the growing up process. I’m inclined to side with Carol on that because my FD went through a lot of the same growing pains. The difference being that she was only five when her mother passed and PW was 14. Carol and I were both adults at the time, so we have a totally different perspective.
And I’m getting another migraine. My vision is getting wonky, so I’m going to go take a shower and see if I can get it to settle down, rather than morph into a full-blown optic and capillary migraine.
The hot water may not be what I need, but there is always an ice pack.

Good news about the books release! When I sort through my books for the upcoming move, I’ll see if I can find my copies. Seems to me, though, that my Favorite Daughter “borrowed” them and if so, I’ll have to go physically to her place and hunt them down.
(I promise I won’t say it.)
I plead lack of sleep as my excuse. I thought for sure I’d get it in Four, but I ended up with a “Great.”

Holiday season was going great, snow on the horizon, white CHristmas approaching…. Then the bay of biscay decided to provide the air instead of the more usual Siberian stuff. Wet and warm… mild has been in place ever since. Yuck.
4 doses now, ‘Face. I am now a connoisseur of the Covid. Each version does have some interesting special features. A catalogue to choose your required symptoms could be created.

We had some extremely frigid weather for Christmas, even hitting below 0° F here. In “The South!” Next Christmas, however, I’m hoping I’ll be back West where it’s higher and drier!
