They never did make clear, if the cognitive decline and/or higher cancer risk associated with OSA, was lessened with consistent use of CPAP machines.

My wife just learned of a simple solution to apnea. Vitamin B1. Apparently apnea sufferers are always B1 deficient.

So, throw out the CPAP machine and get some supplements!

There are phone apps that do an amazing job of monitoring your sleep for apnea, snoring and deep sleep/light sleep patterns.

I’ve been using “Mintal” from the apple app store. the free version.

I had surgery for sleep apnea in 1999. It made a big difference. I used Mintal to see if the apnea has come back. It hasn’t but I have other sleep issues, like irregular bed times, allergies that wake me up at night with sinus issues, and short sleep times. I snore on average 9 minutes a night, which isn’t bad.

My wife and I just got our CPAP machines in the past three months. Now the only one who snores in our bed is the cat. It has made a tremendous difference.

I was diagnosed with OSA in 2002 - sleep study technician at WRAMC said I had the worst case of OSA he had ever seen!

Got my CPAP two days later, been using it nightly ever since then, and it has, literally, saved my life!

My advice: don’t wait until you fall asleep at the wheel while driving to get tested for OSA!

Until I wrecked my big Caddie one night after falling asleep (mercifully [Guardian Angel, anyone?] both big Caddie and Taxman survived the “incident!”), I was in denial about OSA!

If you snore, get up several times a night to pee, and if you do not feel rested in the AM, GET TESTED FOR OSA!

AND, if you are diagnosed with OSA, and need a CPAP, USE IT!

CPAPs work!
