Usually I pluck their “Come Summer” for a quick crank-up on whatever audio player is around. :^)

As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls is a collaborative album by Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays, released in 1981. The title makes reference to Wichita, Kansas and Wichita Falls, Texas. The title tune is just under 21 minutes.

It is one of the few albums where Metheny not only acts as both the lead and accompanying guitarist but also the bassist, as each track uses fair amounts of overdubbing.

The track "September Fifteenth" is in reference to September 15, 1980, the day the American jazz pianist Bill Evans died. Metheny and Mays cite Evans as a main influence. Both "September Fifteenth" and "It's for You" appear in the score for the 1985 film Fandango.

The third fave from “Aliens” (after “Come Summer” and “Wrath of the Rain”) is “Speed the Plough”. Apparently their label was on their butts to record albums that would sell in the US.

BTW, I’d say that “The Tain” is probbbbably not gonna appeal to a broad listening audience. :^) “The Book of Invasions” was supposed to split the difference I suppose, but “Sword of Light” is the only track that I remember fondly (starts with an old tune, “Toss the Feathers”, that has since kinda perked up into more recent Irish bands repertoir).

Never heard of this song - or this band before.

“Come Summer” I kind-of like it. Who is that on the flute?
Whoever it is rocks out like Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull.

Here it is -

Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah, because Ian Anderson pretty much owns the flute now, heh, the band Focus sounds like Tull on “House of the King”, and the ad for “Aliens” in Rolling Stone (this was in the 1970s, obviously) said, “Remember when Tull was fun? Horslips still is!” Marketing guys are jerks.

I was looking for the Horslips first album to find a song title, noticed they did "Dance for yer daddy" on there, thought of the Eliza Carthy version, couldn't find it on YT.
