Russia won’t immediately resume exports of natural gas to Europe through its Nord Stream 1 pipeline, worsening a shortage that threatens to tip the continent into an energy crisis this winter.
On Friday, Russian state energy giant Gazprom said it would not resume flows through the pipeline on Saturday as planned because it had detected an oil leak at its Portovaya compressor station. The pipeline has been shut since Wednesday for maintenance.
It didn’t give a timeline of when exports might resume.

It will take another year to a year and a half, I really think Ukraine will win. The Russia military's demonstrated weaknesses are huge factor. This is not the great Russian bear of the Cold War and Reagan years anymore.
When youre sucking the teet, ya dont use your teeth!! Europe needs to re-learn obedience to those they are dependent on...
You might be onto something. Or they could throw themselves into a coal plant, you know, for Allah heh.
Not very Christian of me, and I know some become saved, but the others only destroy.

The EU cut themselves off. First they refused to pay and confiscated hundreds of billions of Russian cash and infrastructure. They refused to allow Nordstream 2 to be turned on. They cut Russia off from swift. They refused to allow vital machinery and tech support.
Now the EU has no gas and they decide Russia has destroyed their trust. Lol
Slobber Ukraini
For Europe it is.
We’re next on the chopping block.
Manufacturing will be crippled here by energy prices and all that cool stuff at the store you like to buy will no longer be found.
Fun days ahead.
i don’t doubt there are incremental maintenance issues creeping up. I would think the timing of most if not all the flow reductions has been political, though.
One would assume when the EU and US stole russia’s foreign reserves (several hundred billion worth), they reasonably expected this, so it should be ok.
Here we go again....

This is what the Western Europeans WANTED.
They support the cutoff of all LNG and oil from Russia.
Be careful what you wish for.
All of Western Europe is now scrounging for firewood and/or coal. They will show those Russians !

Germany calls Russia’s Nord Stream pipeline maintenance ‘incomprehensible,’ fears shutdown may continue
CLAUDIA SCHOLZ

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 1, 2022
The missing volumes of gas will not be replaced by shifting flows from other sources, Mr. Mueller said, adding that Germany is now better prepared for outages, as its gas storage facilities are 83 per cent filled. “The delivery stop on Nord Stream 1 announced for three days is therefore bearable,“ he said.
But any possible extension would be a real threat, Mr. Mueller told The Globe and Mail. “In view of Russia‘s actions in recent weeks, it is conceivable that deliveries will not be resumed after the delivery stop,” he warned.
The had visions of unicorns grazing under windmills.
Widget your Eurotrash buddies Help start the score by pushing eastward with NATO and the constant shelling of the breakaway republics of the Ukraine for eight years. With sanctions the despotic euros have engaged in right theft of property, they have flooded the Ukraine with weapons and refused to pay for gas in rubles. The scum are getting what they deserve. I hope they freeeze.
How to have a nuclear war without ever dropping a bomb: invade Ukraine, cut off energy to Europe, get clumsy with a nuclear reactor...in a short time you could thoroughly depopulate Europe.
you have seen the images of market-priced bills of business energy bills in europe and the UK, I am sure. it is baffling. they are going to be in an economic depression very fast.
“Sounds like an excuse for EU to go to war.”
I guess they can try nuclear war, but not much else, since they’ve now emptied their arsenals in Ukraine.
...of course the Russians can also play ball regarding nuclear war and have proven their ability to take out incoming missiles, at least at the tactical level - something only matched by Israel so far.
“In one of the dumbest geopolitical moves in history, Europe outsourced its energy industry to Russia, laughed at everyone who said that was moronic, and then proceeded to wage a proxy war against the country that now has a monopoly on the continent’s gas and electricity. What did you idiots think was going to happen?”
It only became a ‘dumb’ move when Europe decide to ‘sanction’ the energy that they need from Russia. Until that point, Russia would have happily sold them all the energy they wanted, despite internal pressure to cut off those sales.
So what’s in it for Russia to keep selling oil had Europe not decided to ‘sanction’ Russia? ANSWER: Credibility with the other 80% of the world that is not sanctioning Russia - Russia wants to be seen a reliable trading partner, at least for now. So, while, it made short-term sense for Russia to quickly cut off Europe, ‘sanctions’ or no ‘sanctions’, it makes a lot more long-term sense to simply let Europe step in it with their ‘sanctions’ and use that the rationale to cut them off.
That’s a big factor in why Russia’s favorability numbers in the non-Western world went from about 30% just after the Ukraine invasion to 70% now.
Cutting your enemy off from outside resources to starve them is a classic siege tactic. Of course, this is exactly what the West (led by the US and other globalists) intended by imposing economic “sanctions” to cut Russia off from financial resources. Can anyone see the irony in this?
“NATO nations have stripped the shelves to send ordnance to Ukraine, and will take years just to build back their stocks.”
No doubt Russia understands this, but I doubt people in the West understand just how long it takes to restart production lines here, for an ever-growing list of reasons.
“China is close to 90% energy independent right now.”
Sorry, but where does this number come from? I know China has a lot of energy, by they also consume something like twice what the US consumes.
