Horrific Biden Consequence, 20 Million American Households Behind on Electricity Bills, Pending Shutoff
Conservative Treehouse ^ | 24Aug | Sundance

Long-term CTH readers might remember in 2014 when President Obama claimed U.S. families had been paying too little for electricity for too long. As soon as Joe Biden took office, he began implementing the Green New Deal energy policy that, (a) directly forces higher costs for energy; and (b) is now creating massive problems.

In July I noted my own electricity bill had jumped 28% in a single month. That bill was followed by another almost identical increase this month. A review of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for July [Data Here] shows that nationally the same thing is happening. The year-over-year electricity price has increased 15.2%. However, worse still, the July increase alone was 1.9%, which figures to an annualized rate of 22.8%.

Just shut up and pay the bill. If you lose your electricity put on another layer of clothes.

Just STFU and give me your tax money so you can pay off the student loans of a liberal that has an Master's degree and doesn't feel like paying them anymore.

That is right.

The socialist, communist, dim cure is to forgive all of them just as they did the college loans and make the rest of us pay the bills.

‘Ya Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet.’

It looks to be a long cold winter. Got down to 45F this morning here at my place in South Central New Mexico.

I’m still sitting in front of the heater trying to warm up.

Still cheap in the US at under 12 cents a kwh.

A year ago in Europe, it was 30 cents.

Now it’s 60 cents per kwh.

My point being that there is a HUGE UPSIDE to our electricity prices and if we continue to let Democrats win (you know, to teach the GOP a lesson), THEY WILL send us to European pricing (and with universal mail-in voting, it will not be possible to remove them from office).

What is not being said is this is a normal state of affairs. At any given time, you have this many deadbeats bill collectors are chasing.

let Democrats win (you know, to teach the GOP a lesson.....

Or continue to elect Republicans that are doing the same things as the Democrats. Just slower and with a smile on their face when they see you at the local diner. Got it.

They’ll have to remove the meters or people will just turn them back on.

Ah, what is the problem? They can move in with relatives or add a few extra layers of clothes and blankets and congratulate themselves for help reduce anthropological global warming, plus save some money. /s

Reduce your lifestyle. For many (not all) your problems will be solved.

20 million households. Let’s just use four people per household to make it easy. Thats 80 million without electricity. Out of 330 million. Just over 24%. That’s more than the usual deadbeats I’d wager.

Don’t worry, I’m sure the Dems will create another program to pay people’s utility bills.

All I know is that with Republicans I won’t have to face 60 cents per kwh for YEARS, maybe DECADES (if ever). But if your Democrats win and get full power, it will be MONTHS.

As it is, as long as your Democrats don’t win the House, the Republicans running it are MUCH MORE CONSERVATIVE (thanks to Trump sweeping away a ton of RINOs). It would be nice to give them a chance.

Perhaps people should plan ahead and see what rate plans are out there.

We signed up for TXU's summer plan, basically a 50% discount during the summer, plus a few free days a month. Our bill has not reached $300 a month, despite 30 days of 100 degrees in a row.

10 years ago, it was not unusual for us to see 500-600 a month, partly due to our ignorance. Our builder didn't install a powerful enough unit for the upstairs. It never stopped running during the summer.

When we upgraded a few years ago, we installed a more powerful unit, and the results were felt immediately.

So the answer to high food prices would be stop eating?

Sounds about right to me. Try working daily with the public taking credit apps, it is a real eye opener.

The most active depts in any utility are the folks that discontinue service for lack of payment.

If you have kids, just get on the “school lunch program”. It runs 365 days a year and includes 3 squares a day, and even “snacks” to help with the non students at home.

NO ONE is going hungry in this country.

I don't doubt it. I guess I just expect it to be better than that. I'm reminded of a rule I heard about 30 years ago called the 80/20 rule. 80% of the problems are caused by 20% of the people. It applies pretty much across the board. 80% of crime is caused by 20% of the population. 80% of customer issues are caused by 20% of your customers. Etc.

And it it's too big, it will cause other issues. It won't run long enough to remove moisture from the air and the short cycling will kill the unit faster. It will also push warmer air into the rooms that don't cool as fast as the ones closer to the unit if the supply ducts and returns are not balanced.
