The Mercer County (PA) Raid: Yet Another Teachable Moment
self | J. Johnson

Posted on 08/21/2022 10:21:43 AM PDT by jimjohn

In an age of elevated awareness of the possible threats we face, there lies before us another example of what not to do. This is the tragic story of one Adam Bies of Mercer County PA, who allowed his emotions to manifest itself into social media posts that not only has him in legal hot water, but only adds fuel to propaganda fire the opposition is currently stoking. We should use events like these as sad, yet teachable moments for the rest of us.

And with that, class is in session. But first, the background…

According to the Pittsburg Post-Gazette, on or about August 12, 2022, Bies was accused of threatening to murder FBI & IRS agents. It wasn’t a personal threat. No phone calls. No plans were made. But apparently Mr. Bies assumed it was safe to blurt out his feelings about an August 8 action in south Florida in his social ‘safe-space’ known as ‘Gab’.

See where this is going?

Bies was reminded of his post via an in-person reply from the Federal Bureau of Investigation with the support of Special Weapons and Tactics of the Commonwealth (a.k.a PA state police SWAT teams). What made the matter worse is that Bies (probably not knowing who was outside at 11:00 pm since he was sleeping) greeted the lights and sirens with an M4 rifle.

Now before you ask – no, they didn’t kill him. They convinced him to avoid death-by-cop, which was probably easy since his 12 year-old son was also in the house. Once young Mr. Bies was pulled out of harm’s way, the home was then searched and they found (pause for pearl clutching): shotguns, pistol, and rifles, as well as (OMG) a compound bow. According to a social post on Gab, Bies threatened to “kill FBI agents with a compound bow”. Sounds like the alcohol talking, but that’s just this author’s opinion.

It’s a good thing you, the dear reader, have none of these items listed above in your domicile. Then again, you probably don’t make public threats on social media, either. No matter. These 13 representations of the 2nd Amendment will never be used for the security of a free state, as they were of course – confiscated, and used for the reason to justify holding Bies, and man with no prior criminal record to be held without bond. If he had priors, it would have been included in the news report.

Now, you can get as outraged as you want over this incident; as to the possible abuse of government authority. Or, you may find it sad but humorous that a so-called right-thinking American could be so well… stupid. But in the age we are in, it is best to look at these incidents (there are many) with a sober realistic view, and use as a context for the rules of engagement for the future.

And now, all eyes to the blackboard, please…

Lesson #1: Don’t Make Threats

Coming from an environment where being confronted by bullies was common, the lesson from my father was ‘never telegraph a punch’. You see, where I came from, even mentioning a desire to fight someone – for whatever reason – could wind up with you having an unexpected confrontation with that same someone – and their associates. Those who make threats lose the element of surprise, which is something an adversary counts on. Notice in this report, the FBI and state police didn’t simply call first (before surrounding his house)?

From the report, “…Agent [Gregg] Frankhouser said agents reviewed text messages on the phone and found that Mr. Bies had texted his girlfriend shortly before the FBI arrived. In those texts, he expressed his desire to die in a shootout with the bureau and his hope that he would leave the children of FBI agents parentless…” (as you recall – with a crossbow – see above).

Text messages, gab postings, etc.

In a recent CNBC report, the House Oversight Committee leaned on eight social media companies [August 19, 2022] to crack down on online threats against law enforcement that are reportedly on the rise following the … well, you know what. Certainly not any of the other incidents that would cause Americans to lose respect for the FBI, but I digress…

“..[the] lawmakers sent letters demanding information and documents from Twitter, TikTok, Facebook parent company Meta and Telegram, as well as the [you-know-who]-backed app Truth Social. Three other platforms with largely conservative followings, Rumble, Gettr and Gab, were also contacted…”

The letters seek data on the threats posted online since the Aug. 8 search of (you know what), along with information about company policies for reporting and removing threats.

Imagine this author now turning away from the blackboard to face the class, shouting:

“Okay! You got this, People? Loud and clear enough for you? Threats on ANY social media platform may as well be sent directly to law enforcement, thus cutting out the middleman. I’m sure there will be a test on this later!”

Moving on (back to the blackboard)…

Lesson #2: Drop the False Flag References

After viewing this story and many others like them, there seems to be the trend among some to call these incidents “false flags”, i.e. an action perpetrated by government actors to use as propaganda and justify unwarranted actions the government must take. The case in Mercer County, PA clearly did not meet this criteria, instead should be considered an ‘unforced error’, by the suspect in this case. Under the color of law, only one side has the monopoly of violence, which is contrary to our founding documents. But the Real American must soon face the reality of a “false flag” incident, that won’t be false, and convincing yourself otherwise will be a fruitless effort.

The federal government doesn’t need an ‘excuse’ to declare Martial Law. They have been acting on mere Executive Orders for years. And if/when it comes to forcibly cracking down on the population, they have plenty of Governors to do that for them. As many have witnessed in recent months, law enforcement has become arbitrary. If you haven’t noticed, they’ve been ‘false flagging’ you since January 20, 2017 – and possibly before that, which brings us to our next lesson…

Lesson #3 The Coming Second Civil War

According to the indictment of Mr Bies , posted to his Gab account, "Is it time for civil war yet? Seriously, how much longer before we finally do what needs to be done?". He’s charged with 7 counts. Among them, an August 12 post allegedly stating “…Come and get me you piece of [expletive] feds. I can't wait to watch you bleed out you pedophile scumbags. Every single one of you deserve a painful death…”

Now, if I had the opportunity, I would like to ask Mr. Bies on what day he thinks the Second Civil War will start? My guess is that his answer would be August 12, 2022, or perhaps when he made his first threatening post; he just didn’t know that it may have already started. This is the dichotomy here. He, like many others, believes a civil war is coming (someday) and assumes that when that day comes, only then should rise up and take action against whatever comes next. But permission to look at it from the other side of the chessboard…

… as your opponent, it is to my benefit to have you believing civil war is coming, and to make sure you are never convinced you are already engaged in it. Although, you could literally give me any example of what constitutes a civil war by any definition, and I could respond with news clippings. So long as you are “docile and confused”, I can go on “Great Resetting” my way to Utopia while you “cling to your Guns and Bibles”; waiting for that elusive 2nd civil war to the point where you find yourself quoting Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn (goggle it).

Lesson #4: Accept the Rules of Engagement for what they are.

As of time of this writing, this author considers the citizens of this nation, regardless of political preference, under a type of siege (read: war) that one cannot merely vote or shoot their way out of – period. So this is not to say one should go pick up a rock and go hunting, but first appreciate the fact that our public actions (notably in social media) have consequences. Yes, there are double standards. While others can post open threats (read: doxing) against Supreme Court Justices and receive no penalty, those rules do not apply to us. In fact, as we are learning, when going after their opposition, few rules limit their actions. The opposition’s greatest advantage however is maintaining the element of surprise and upon confrontation – greater numbers; sort of like the bullies I mentioned from my youth.

But their greatest weakness is the façade they have too many Americans under right now – that our country is not crumbling around us. You see, we all know this. No one has to state the obvious. But as each tyrannical act presents itself, more will continue to lose full faith and credit (and respect) of this government as a whole, and that is something the government cannot vote, spend or shoot their way out of.

Rule # 1. The government monitors EVERY social media site, especially right-leaning ones (like FreeRepublic). So don’t post anything you wouldn’t say to an FBI agent’s face.

Heck of a statement that a guy with your handle would feel obligated to say.

"Play your cards close to the vest." or "Loose lips sink ships." would seem to adequate advice.

Sucks to have to fear our own cops.

Yes, it does. But the DeepState has militarized much of the alphabet agencies for their own desires of control.

Lesson #2 doesn’t belong on the list.

I agree we should drop the FALSE false flag references, but not the TRUE ones. And there are are true ones - Jan 6th being a prime example.

Lesson #1: Don’t Make Threats

Is it considered a threat when I post an opinion such as "If we are forced to armed rebellion remember that the primary targets are THOSE WHO GIVE THE ORDERS. They must have "accidents" or just disappear." Is that a threat?

Good point and thank you for writing and posting this. May I add that Christian believers need to be aware of what the New Testament says regarding obedience to the government. This excerpt if from the New Living translation:

“Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you. The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong. So you must submit to them, not only to avoid punishment, but also to keep a clear conscience. Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do. Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority. Romans 13:1-7

Don't waste your time on social media, or, if you feel the need, then keep your comments vanilla. Only one side is being monitored by Fedzilla, as this incident shows.

What is your point, that we should obey the Deep State since they are the government?

No, we the people are the authorities. The Deep State is an dangerous aberration of our Republic, and does not submit to the proper authorities.

“What is your point, that we should obey the Deep State since they are the government?”

My point is Christians should obey Jesus. Jesus said to obey the government and government workers. Here is another teaching of Jesus, from Matthew 23:3-17

“Later, they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to catch Jesus in His words. “Teacher,” they said, “we know that You are honest and seek favor from no one. Indeed, You are impartial and teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay them or not?” But Jesus saw through their hypocrisy and said, “Why are you testing Me? Bring Me a denarius to inspect.” So they brought it, and He asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?”
“Caesar’s,” they answered. Then Jesus told them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” And they marveled at Him. Matthew 23:3-17

Lawlessness in the government is not to be supported though. These people have an oath to uphold the Constitution. They are in direct violation of it and that is where the challenges need to take place.

So don’t post anything you wouldn’t say to an FBI agent’s face

I have to respectfully disagree. Reason 1: you should never say anything to the FBI’s face. What you say will be used against you. Your innocent, law abiding statements will be twisted, misrepresented, taken out of context and used against you. Reason 2: if you don’t post anything because of the rule to not say anything to the FBI, then you abdicated your right to free speech. A right not exercised is a right lost. Silence does not make positive change.

Everyone should use their right to free speech to compel government to change. Freedom of speech should be exercised within the bounds of law. That means no threats of bodily injury or death. That means speaking truth and solutions.

“Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God

That was true at the time it was written. Those were the days of Kings which derived their authority from God.

Our government does not receive its power directly from God. It receives it power from the people whom God dwells. Our government is most unique and radical institution of government in the history of man. Our rights come from God. We give the government the primary responsibility to defend our God given rights. In turn, the people have control over government.

If you truly believe in God, you will recognize that God dwells within all his believers. In a sense, we are God’s representatives on earth and we have the authority over government. Our government was formed with that in mind.

If you want to identify spiritual and religious threats, then you need only look at the number of nonbelievers that control and inhabit government. That includes citizens that vote. These nonbelievers enable a sinful government. They are not filled with the Holy Spirit. They are the ones that do not listen to God’s authority.

Our nation is going through tribulations because we are in a fundamental battle of beliefs. Many Americans no longer share a core belief in which all other beliefs are derived. That core belief is in God. Government will not change those beliefs. It is the responsibility of each God believing citizen to evangelize through word and deed. That includes fighting against the evils and injustices in government as God’s warriors on earth. Onward Christian Soldiers.

“...obedience to the government...”

Yeah, tell that to the Uyghur’s in China, or the Jews in 1945 Germany, or the Armenian’s in 1912 Turkey, etc. Obedience doesn’t mean enslavement.
