I hope that they offer refills for a period of time. When they expire...some are actually safe to take and effective for at least year after expiration...some are not. Research the meds they gave you. Don’t take any of the antibiotics in the tetracycline family after expiration: tetracycline, doxycycline, minocycline, etc. They begin to change chemically after a period of time into a very toxic form. Hits the kidneys hard.

Also, NEVER take tetracycline without plenty of liquid to wash it down. They can stick in the esophagus and give you a nasty, EXCRUCIATINGLY painful ulcer.

Fish antibiotic availability from my local feed store.

Amoxicillin-Clavulanate (Amoxicillin - I can get)
Azithromycin (I can get)
Ciprofloxacin (seems familiar)
Doxycycline (I can get and have some here)
Metronidazole (never seen it)

Metronidazole is used to treat infections of Giardia in dogs, cats, and other companion animals, although it does not reliably clear infection with this organism and is being supplanted by fenbendazole for this purpose in dogs and cats.[64] It is also used for the management of chronic inflammatory bowel disease in cats and dogs.[65] Another common usage is the treatment of systemic and/or gastrointestinal clostridial infections in horses. Metronidazole is used in the aquarium hobby to treat ornamental fish and as a broad-spectrum treatment for bacterial and protozoan infections in reptiles and amphibians. In general, the veterinary community may use metronidazole for any potentially susceptible anaerobic infection. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) suggests it only be used when necessary because it has been shown to be carcinogenic in mice and rats, as well as to prevent antimicrobial resistance.[66][67]

Used in fish tanks so I should be able to get it. I do have some fenbendazole here. Just gave some to the dogs yesterday as a dewormer.

Some people claim fenbendazole cured their cancer.

Fish antibiotics. Much cheaper, same stuff.

Do you clean out the entire stock of guppy penicillin for one dose?

Tell your son Thanks! s/

Indiscriminate use, over proscribing of and misuse of anti-biotics for virial infections rather than for bacterial infections has contributed to anti-biotic resistant bacteria.

Good idea but a little steep when one is on a fixed income. Maybe one day, before the SHTF.

I didn't pay near that much at the feed store. Less than $20 iirc. Same 30 count, 100mg.

We have at least 3 out of the 5 in our fridge right now.
Fishmox is the brand name I recall.
They come in capsule form in a bottle of 50 or 100.

We also have a bottle of liquid Ivermectin. It is easy to measure out in CC’s in a syringe. You give it to dogs to rid them of worms/parasites in their digestive tract.

We breed dogs. All of these are purchased through Pet Med suppliers.

Correction... WERE sold in feed stores. At least where I live. The ranch stores use to sell antibiotics and ivermectin until kung flu hit.

How do we know these mail order antibiotics are legit?

Read the article at the link in my post that you're replying to. I bought Ivermectin(for horses) and Doxycycline in late 2021 at my feed store.
