BENTONVILLE, Ark. (WSFA) - The ability to shop during overnight hours was a staple at many Walmart stores prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, while the pandemic has eased, America’s largest retailer’s decision against returning to 24-hour operations has not.
Walmart, along with a number of other chains, shifted their operating hours in early 2020 to perform enhanced cleaning and to allow associates time to restock shelves as the pandemic ramped up.
As some COVID-19 restrictions eased in mid-2021, Walmart adjusted its hours for U.S. stores to 6 a.m. until 11 p.m. local time.
Don’t expect to be able to fill your cart or run in for an emergency item at 2 a.m. any time soon, though.
“There are no plans at this time to return our Walmart stores to 24-hour per day operations,” said Charles Crowson, director of Walmart Press Office Corporate Communications. He did not further explain the decision.

No plans at THIS time..
I’m sure the People of Walmart will just shop during the daytime. Should make things interesting.
I had no idea they were closing at night.
I had no idea they had been open all night.
Can’t see the need for any store being open 24/7.
Unfortunate. It was great to be able to run in there late night and pick up whatever you needed. They must really be hurting for workers. Since the stores are cleaned at night and the shelves are mostly restocked at night, it wasn’t very hard to just keep a cashier or two around so customers could shop - the lights were on anyway.
Because people don’t want to work and Biden and his clown show will pay them not to.
Good for Walmart. Grocery stores need to cut back Holiday hours too. It’s not profitable which means we all pay more so the stupid don’t have to plan ahead.
I’m sure that’s racist.
Guess you’ve never had to repair a broken pipe at 2am.
Store can close at 9 or 10pm giving people plenty of time to shop. The small number of people who shop at 3 am make prices higher for everyone.
When I worked for a grocery store the rationale was simple. They had to have stock and prep people there anyway. So being open really cost them nothing. And there are a fair number people who work night shifts. They do not change their schedule on their days off. So it is natural for them want to shop at 3:00AM. Other people are just up late, or early.
I thought it was just my city doing that. We have been doing since the “pandemic”
They’ll still do that. Just no customers. Weren’t many anyway.
I live in Walmart land. Majority of shoplifting was at night. That’s the reason.
U just hate white people lol!
most 24/7 retail stores never made any economic sense to me anyway ... nothing good ever happens after midnight anyway ...
Some of the best people of Walmart pics were probably taken between midnight and 3 AM.
This is lowering the entertainment value of Walmart. After midnight clientele were better than a zoo and clown carnival rolled up together. You could see what wardrobes you’d swear didn’t exists. Now those miscreants will shop before they change costumes before shopping time arrives. I’ve seen outfits that a cop should arrest wandering around in a store after Midnight
It’s a shame.
