Actress Anne Heche sustained a catastrophic brain injury in the fiery Mar Vista crash last week and is not expected to survive, her representative said in a statement.
“Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne Heche suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition. She is not expected to survive,” the statement read.
Heche is “being kept on life support to determine if any [of her organs] are viable” for donation, the statement added.
“Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit. More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work — especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love. She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light,” the spokesperson added.
video showed Heche’s blue Mini Cooper Clubman being towed out of the home, with a woman sitting up on a stretcher and struggling as firefighters put her in an ambulance.
Heche is being treated at Grossman Burn Center in West Hills, CNN reported, and in the spokesperson’s statement, they extended thanks to “the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses that cared for Anne,” as well as “everyone for their kind wishes and prayers for Anne’s recovery.”

Du hast recht!
I see the parade of the human condition in all it’s nobility, humor , tragedy and loss a hope and recovery every night in the ER and you know what?
I love the job. I don’t have any sympathy for drunks. I’m a recovering alcoholic and it’s only by the grace of God I didn’t do what Heche did. Or worse.
We’re definitely living in an upside-down world.
Very humble thanks Gene. G’night.
That’s not irony you used.
Figure it out and do better.
And if I misunderstood what you were saying, I am sorry.
My point though is that you, even as a former drinker (I am also), have no way of knowing what led to her getting behind the wheel. She surely shouldn't have, of course, but what drinker hasn't done exactly what she has done (i.e., getting behind the wheel when you shouldn't have)?
The bad thing here is that she crashed...and now she's paying for it.
What I think is wrong (and I have been guilty of it plenty of times) is a rush to judgment without knowing what was really going on. We just presume that she cavalierly got in the car, knowing full-well she was too drunk to drive, and feeling an entitled sense of privilege, sped off down the street not caring who she hurt.
The problem is that we just don't know that for a fact.
She's no better or worse than you or me. Except she crashed.
No worries Rooster. I flew off the handle a bit. I’m sorry. I just can’t get that little girl out of my mind, so young and so brave. The little thing didn’t cry or make a sound as the doctors and nurse worked on her.
As a recovering alcoholic I’ve nothing but ‘’tough love’’ and little patience with loud mouthed, selfish drunks. And that includes me, LOL!
Again Heche chose to do what she did. What happens now is between her and her Higher Power, if she has one.
Be well FRiend. And may the Lord have mercy on the soul of Ann Heche.
No, you don’t understand irony.
And keep up the good work! I know I couldn't do what you do. It takes a huge amount of courage.
LOL - whatever!
.
i was surprised they could harvest any organs..maybe the eyes????
...... She was a burn victim so I Dunno .... However here in Sunny California ... almost Everybody wears shades ... So it's definitely a possibility!
Appreciated :)
Well... a very humble thank you sir. I mean that sincerely. Hey, I’m just a mop jockey in a hospital ER.
It’s the doctors and nurses who are the heroes but again, thank you for those kind words.
Ok fair enough . Sorry if I got testy. Meant no harm.
Humble thanks Rooster. Hey I’m just a mop jockey, that’s all but thank you for your kind words.
