Sesame Place have cancelled character Rosita by banning her from meet and greets and the daily parade after a family launched a $25million lawsuit against the park.
DailyMail.com can reveal that the bilingual Muppet, from Mexico, is slowly being erased from the theme park in Philadelphia, with staff claiming she has been removed in the wake of the controversy.
A mother slammed the character as racist after filming Rosita seemingly ignoring her daughter and niece as they reached out to the character during the parade last month.
The two little girls eagerly reached out to the blue character, who was introduced to expand the diversity of Sesame Street, who was seen shaking their finger at them, before allegedly ‘hugging the little white girl’ next to them.
Multiple buildings with the costume character’s face on them have reportedly remained closed since the incident in July, with staff claiming she has been 'cancelled'.
Rosita’s Cocina restaurant has reportedly been closed ‘for weeks’ despite the busy summer period.
One staff member told DailyMail.com: ‘With recent events Rosita hasn’t been around much anymore.
‘She’s been taken off the parade entirely since the racism allegations.
‘None of the character’s walk the street in the parade any more, and any meet and greets for her have been called off.
‘That is all because of the allegations, they don’t want anyone potentially making the same claims.
‘Essentially, Rosita has been cancelled and I don’t think she’ll be back any time soon.’

(And it’s probably for park safety - the character could be an easy target for revenge, activists, etc)
It’s not the furry part that did the shunning...anyone ask the flesh and blood inside what happened?
It’s a freaking character whose costume is worn by a human. Good grief.
How is this not a simple situation resolved by reprimanding or firing the person in the Rosita costume. By omitting the Rosita character, they’re bowing to the people who insist on making this a racial issue when it clearly isn’t. I predict this place going full woke then completely broke all within a single year’s time frame.

Did Rosita move to the suburbs?

That’s what I believe happened. those masks are very hard to see out of and the person in the costume probably didn’t see half the kids in that parade.
After this, all the characters are now just on floats and don’t walk in the parade to avoid this.

wait a minute... did they sue the actor? or the costume???
if you watched the original video it was clear that the Rosita character could not really see the little girl due to the costume blind spots, this is why it gave high-5s to ever kid on the platform, even the girl who jumped up there late.
I would be willing to bet the character instructions were specific. “Give high 5s to any kid on the platform.”
Rosita died on the way back to her home planet.
They’ll probably end up getting 50 million.
The clip (very short clip) I saw it looked like Rosita put her hand out, palm out “NO” position.
The look on the two little one’s faces was heart breaking.
