Travelers looking to book a cruise will no longer have to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 on Norwegian Cruise Line (NCLH) as it has changed the requirements for boarding its ships.
The cruise line announced changes to its COVID policies on Monday, with Frank Del Rio, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, saying in a statement that the decision would make "it simpler and easier for our loyal guests to cruise on our three best-in-class brands."
Norwegian operates its namesake cruise brand as well as Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises.
Changes to the sailing requirements now allow fully vaccinated passengers aged 12 and older to board Norwegian cruise ships or Oceania and Regent vessels without undergoing any pre-cruise COVID-19 protocols. This means a negative COVID test is no longer required, and only proof of full vaccination will be needed to board.
Unvaccinated passengers aged 12 and older will now be allowed to board Norwegian cruise ships with only a negative PCR or Antigen COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to embarkment, depending on local regulations. Passengers aged 11 and under are not required to be vaccinated or provide a negative COVID test, according to Norwegian.
The new policy will go into effect across all three cruise brands effective Sept 3. Until this date, Norwegian will continue to require all passengers aged 12 and older to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to its website.
"Our long-awaited revisions to our testing and vaccination requirements bring us closer in line with the rest of society, which has learned to adapt and live with COVID-19..." Del Rio said.
COVID policies may differ on some voyages depending on where they are departing from or the specific local regulations in a visiting destination. These locations can include Canada, Greece, and Bermuda, Norwegian said.
The change from Norwegian comes as several other cruise lines make changes to their COVID policies, dropping the requirement for COVID testing prior to boarding for all vaccinated passengers in most destinations and sailings.
Carnival Cruises, Royal Caribbean, MSC, Azmara, Virgin Voyages, and Margaritaville at Sea have all eliminated their COVID testing requirements for vaccinated passengers in some capacity.
As of Monday premarket hours, shares of Norwegian were trading at $13.54, up 33 cents, or 2.50%.
"The new policy will go into effect across all three cruise brands effective Sept 3. Until this date, Norwegian will continue to require all passengers aged 12 and older to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to its website."
With all the home testing kits for COVID 19 sent out by the feds, it should be easy to test.
Of course we are ...
“Unvaccinated passengers aged 12 and older will now be allowed to board Norwegian cruise ships with only a negative PCR or Antigen COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to embarkment, depending on local regulations.”
No, thank you. I will not be cruising again until I can take a cruise the same way I did before all this nonsense started up.
If that means I never take another cruise then so be it.
The 3 places you are most likely to contract Covid:
1. Cruise ships
2. Cruise ships
3. Cruise ships
Maybe the purebloods can stay safe on one side of the ship while the vaxxed can contaminate each other on the otherl opposite side?
Judging by the timing of when people come down with Covid on cruise ships, it seems more likely the the places you are most likely to contact Covid are:
1. Airplanes
2. Airplanes
3. Airplanes
Maybe they should change their policy to not allow vaccinated people. The vaccinated are the ones getting the Wuhan Plague and spreading it. (Semi-sarcasm for the slow people)
🤔. Perhaps a lot of folks were PO’d that requirement was put in place and have written off going on a cruise ever again. 🚢🚫
“I will not be cruising again until I can take a cruise the same way I did before all this nonsense started up.”
Ditto. Since we know they are trying to harm us, I’m pretty sure I’m not sticking something up my nose with who-knows-what on the end of a swab.
No tests. No shots. No masks. Return to pre-February 2020 protocol.
I don’t know who reads Cruise Critic, but the way the cruise lines treat passengers who test positive while on board is positively abusive. Anyone getting cold-like springs on a cruise would do well to say nothing.
Exactly. And I am not going to pay handsomely for the privilege of being incarcerated for five to ten days.
I’m with you. If the hurt enough. They’ll break. I don’t wands be reminded constantly that I’m under suspicions of being diseased.
“Looks like the unvaccinated are needed to fill those ships. -Tom”
More like their bank account. Hard to work without cash, eh Globalist suckups?
I’m pretty sure I’m not sticking something up my nose with who-knows-what on the end of a swab.”
This…, they have always discussed that it would be possible to “vaccinate” people this way,
I am sure to bet the following will occur ...
We all know the vaxxed despise those of us that are unvaxxed.
What will it take for someone vaxxed to complain to the ships authorities about someone unvaxxed that is coughing or other.
Force that unvaxxed into an on ship test. The test is so unreliable or maybe already in the queue as a ‘test-positive’ outcome. Punish the unvaxxed with ruined vacation and quarantine for the duration
Been reading that even if you have paid top dollar for a balcony with fresh air, your quarantine will not be with fresh air. Your quarantine will be inside on a lower red deck.
Too much to lose for the unvaxxed at this time.
“I don’t know who reads Cruise Critic, “
You can bet that forums like C/C are censoring those with extreme experiences.
I would like to see: cruisesfromhell.com
My daughter called me at 1 PM today to tell me she made it from Boston to the "Freedom of the Seas", in Miami, and will be leaving late this afternoon on a Bahamian cruise.
She will let me know about any Covid out breaks on board that she knows about.
The Cruise Lines recently changed the rules, where they won't tell the passengers or the press about any outbreaks.
You have to write to the cruise line to get that information. - Tom
“You can bet that forums like C/C are censoring those with extreme experiences.”
Yikes! I didn’t need to hear that. The ones I’ve read have been pretty bad. People all but abandoned for days at a time.
They need to drop ALL the nonsense. But at least things are beginning (!) to go back to normal.
Right on about airplanes. 100 times more chance in airplanes to catch covid than a spacious cruise ship. Already did 5 cruises in last 10 months. Never caught covid. Sitting shoulder to shoulder in closed air space inside a titanium tube for many hours? No thank you.
Of course when flight is over in a few hours you disappear and do not get in news even if infected. In a cruise ship you are there for several days and make news if get infected.
