I dunno, seems like he’s telling his players they’re worthless because they didn’t win it all. Not a great message to send. Character matters, and demonstrating grace after being the second-best team out of an entire nation seems not to matter to this coach.

Alabama Participation Trophy sounds like something out of an SEC Shorts video.
I think it was just funny. I know Coach Saban would never tell his players anything like that.
I heard Rush Limbaugh say very often:
“You don’t win the silver—you lose the gold.”
Arrogance. Without the help of the SEC and ESPN, Bama might not have got the nod for a couple of the Natty’s. Besides, the game could be played 3 times most teams would win at least one of three.
Bill Jordan wrote a book about revolver point shooting called NO SECOND PLACE WINNER, meaning that in a one on one pistol fight you’ve gotta come out on top. My bookmark for Jordan’s book is my red second place ribbon I got for a 5K run (I think there were only two runners in that race in my geriatric age bracket).
